Educational Support Specialist
Job Description
Oakwood Academy is currently looking for a qualified Educational Support Specialist.
As an Educational Support Specialist, you will:
Support students in a 1:4 or 1:7 ratio special education classroom (K-8)
Assess students and support the lead teacher in creating an Individual Education Plan for each student
Prepare developmentally appropriate teaching and learning resources
Monitor and document student's progress of goal areas
Collaborate with clinical team (OT, SLP, PT, Psychologist)
Participate in professional development as related to the DIR/Floortime Model
Complete any additional duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
ECE, CYW, PSW, OCT or Psychology degree
2+ years experience in field of special education (specifically ASD)
Knowledge or certification in the DIR Model is considered an asset
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
