The Institute for the Study of University Pedagogy (ISUP) is the centre for research on teaching and learning at the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM). Established in 2020, ISUP advances the study of university pedagogy. In collaboration with faculty, staff, and students across UTM, we support the development of students academic skills through courses, consultations, workshops and programs. We also support faculty pedagogy and the scholarship of teaching and learning through programming and one-on-one consultations. These offerings are informed by our commitment to innovative, inclusive, and accessible pedagogy.ISUPs faculty and staff support the Robert Gillespie Academic Skills Centre (RGASC); the Teaching & Learning Collaboration; utmONE, utmONE Scholars, and Foundational Skills courses; and Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL).Within ISUP, the Robert Gillespie Academic Skills Centre (RGASC) is a hub for academic skills development on the University of Toronto Mississauga campus. The mandate of the RGASC is to support and promote teaching and learning in a range of contexts across the University of Toronto Mississauga. For students, the RGASC is a resource for developing academic skills through individual appointments and group-based initiatives that help students identify and develop the academic skills they need for success in theirstudies. For instructional staff and faculty, the Centre is a partner in teaching and learning activities. These activities include course and program design, implementation and assessment of a given interventions impact. Faculty and staff appointed to the RGASC have a range of specializations, including academic peer support, academic writing instruction, educational development, English language learning, numeracy, scientific literacy, and supplemental instruction. This diversity of experience and expertise enables the Centre to collaborate productively with partners from across the disciplines and campus, who bring with them a varied and diverse set of teaching and learning objectives.Working with the Director RGASC, and reporting tothe Senior Educational Developer for day-to-day operations, the Educational Developer, Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Accessible Pedagogies, will work directly with faculty, librarians, and staff to support and promote the application of universal design for learning (UDL) principles in fostering inclusive pedagogical approaches, and guiding the pedagogical application of learner-centered accessible pedagogies.Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing and implementing components of instructional programs.
• Fostering and maintaining networks to build capacity and collaboration.
• Conducting detailed analysis and evaluation to inform program planning activities.
• Evaluating learning outcomes for program development.
• Researching curriculum and program trends and writing summary reports for instructors.
• Advising instructors on strategies for developing and delivering curriculum.
• Facilitating educationalworkshops and seminars.
• Serving as a resource on specific issues to a group of specialists.

Essential Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in education or disability studies or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
• Minimum five years of related experience.
• Excellent understanding of universal design for learning (UDL) principles for fostering inclusive pedagogy.
• Strong understanding of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities (AODA) Act and barriers to education faced by students with disabilities.
• Demonstrated understanding of systemic accessibility issues and of the legal and legislative framework related to EDI.
• Demonstrated knowledge, skill, and experience with university-level instruction, program planning, facilitation, consultation, curriculum development, and faculty development.
• Demonstrated knowledge or engagement in scholarship related to theories and practices used in educational development and/or UDL scholarship, or accessibility pedagogies and its application to the curriculum development processes, teaching and resource development.
• The incumbent must have a passion for supporting instructors of diverse backgrounds across the humanities, social science and science disciplines; sensitivity to the professional development challenges and support needs of educators at all career stages; strong personal initiative; tact and good judgment; an ability to successfully meet deadlines.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent facilitation and presentation skills; strong consultative decision-making skills; strong organizational skills; proven project management skills; and an ability to working dependently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications, common Learning Management Systems, and multi-media technologies.

Assets (Nonessential):

• Membership of and engagement with a relevant professional body such as Education Development Centre (EDC), the Professional and Organizational Development Network in Higher Education (POD) or SEDA (Staff and Educational Development Association) is an asset.
