Role and Responsibilities:
Educational Assistant Responsibilities:
? Collaborate with teachers and clinical team to implement lesson plans and IEP's to meet individual student needs.
? Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, offering guidance, reinforcement, and assistance with classwork.
? Utilize the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) to support students in the classroom, focusing on skill development and behaviour modification through Natural Environment Teaching (NET) and small group therapy.
? Collaborate with the BCBA supervisors to implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and individualized treatment plans.
? Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment by promoting student engagement, respect, and cooperation.
? Monitor and record student progress, including attendance, academic performance, and behavioural observations.
? Assist in the preparation and organization of teaching materials, including photocopying, laminating, and assembling educational resources.
? Aid in the supervision of students during breaks, lunchtime, and field trips, ensuring their safety and well-being.
? Maintain open and effective communication with teachers, parents, and school administrators regarding student progress, concerns, and achievements.
? Adhere to company policies and procedures
Qualifications:
? 1 year of experience working and teaching children with Autism and other developmental disabilities.
? High school diploma or equivalent; additional educational qualifications or certifications are a plus in one of the following: Educational Support Worker Diploma, Developmental Services Worker, Behavioural Science Technology Diploma, Autism Behavioural Science Certificate, Child and Youth Worker Diploma, Early Childhood Education Diploma or Degree, a degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
? Previous experience working in an educational setting or with children/adolescents is preferred.
? Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with students, teachers, and parents effectively.
? Empathy, patience, and the ability to work with diverse student populations, including students with special needs.
? Organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities.
? Proficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with educational software and learning platforms is desirable.
? Flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing classroom needs and priorities.
? A positive attitude, enthusiasm for learning, and a genuine passion for education.
? Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
? Eager to learn and receptive to feedback.
? Updated vulnerable sector check.
