How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:



The Education Interpreter delivers hands-on environmental, cultural heritage, nature, recreation, and renewable energy programs (dependent on location) to visitors and visitor groups of TRCA/partner sites and facilities, as well potentially at client sites. The Education Interpreter plays an active role in customer experience ensuring all visitors have a positive experience.



Major Responsibilities:



Guides and leads visitors and visitor groups to TRCA's sites and facilities on established programs focused on environmental, cultural heritage, nature, recreation, and renewable energy Learns program content to be able to effectively deliver interactive programs to various audiences Ensures program equipment/supplies including artifacts are well maintained, clean and stored appropriately Provides support in program development and administrative tasks as required Delivers programs at offsite locations (libraries, community fairs etc) and virtually as needed Incumbents may also be assigned other duties

What will you need to succeed:



Education (degree/diploma/certifications/licenses)

Minimum pursuing a post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Screening. Employees/candidates under the age of eighteen (18) years are not eligible to have a VSS, therefore will not be required Valid Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C Certification Valid Ontario Class G2 driver's license

Experience

2+ years of experience working with children in a group setting Experience working with large groups in delivering programs and activities Previous experience delivering environmental, nature or historical programs Knowledge of natural history, or environmentally related discipline Able to comprehend written documentation and procedural guidelines; skilled in writing clear correspondence (concise, logical, grammatically correct)

Knowledge/Skill/Ability - Competencies

Ability to deliver programs/information to audiences of various ages, adapting style to ensure audience appropriateness Ability to communicate effectively with tact and courtesy Experience interacting and connecting with persons of various social, cultural, or economic backgrounds; at ease with a variety of audiences Strong communication skills to provide clear and concise communication in both non-emergency and emergency situations Able to self-manage workload and prioritize tasks independently Demonstrates responsiveness to internal and external customer requests and needs Able to comprehend written documentation and procedural guidelines Must be flexible to work all required shifts, including weekends and holidays
