People, Words & Change is a non-profit Literacy and Basic Skills program funded by the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development. PWC trains and supports volunteer literacy tutors to provide free, one-on-one tutoring in English basic reading, writing, and numeracy skills to adults in Ottawa. Computer skills training is provided in small classes led by PWC's Computer Skills Instructor.
People, Words & Change needs an energetic, dynamic individual to fill the job of Education Counsellor as per the job description.
EDUCATION AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Recognized teaching certification
Literacy and/or English as a Second Language teaching experience working with adults
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
Experience working with volunteers
Ability to create and adapt teaching materials
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent computer skills - MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Canva; experience teaching online
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Self-starter; flexible; adaptable; problem solver
Use of a car
TIME COMMITMENT: 32 hours per week (occasional weekends or evenings)
HOURLY WAGE: $35.15 per hour
