The UGDSB employs a team of approximately 4,000 dedicated staff who serve more than 35,000 students attending a variety of programs across 65 elementary and 11 secondary schools as well as continuing education and adult learning centres in the counties of Dufferin, Wellington, and the City of Guelph. Child and Youth Counsellor
. This is a 10-month position (yearly from Sept. - June following the school year calendar) to commence September 2, 2025.

0.4 FTE (14 hours per week)
Salary Range:
$57,801- $78,770 - (based on a 1.0 FTE full-time annual salary, wage rate effective September 1, 2025), plus applicable vacation pay, in accordance with the Employment Standards Act

Responsibilities
To address the emotional barriers to student success
Development of preventive social/behavioural programming
Direct service to students relative to social, emotional or behavioural issues (i.e. conflict resolution, anger management, appropriate learning behaviours, peer interaction)
Provide support to students and parents around a variety of social issues, including effective parenting, dealing with divorce and dealing with bereavement
Acts as a liaison between school and parents, school and community agencies
Assist with development of action plans and IEP'S for students around social, emotional and behavioural issues
Experience and Qualifications
Child and Youth Worker Diploma or Degree and/or a combination of formal education (fields related to the development of children and/or special education) and work experience deemed equivalent by the Board
Demonstrated experience supporting students with behaviour and mental health needs
Experience working in the school system, consultation experience, and knowledge of collaborative proactive solutions and Zones of Regulation
Full membership as a Professional certified in the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Care
Experience with individual and group counselling, behavioural management programming
