We are currently hiring for the position of:
Editor & Senior Coordinator
Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Copywriting & Editorial, TIFF, the Editor & Senior Coordinator is a key support player in all Editorial output involving multiple stakeholders (Creative, Video, Communications, Loyalty & Engagement, Programming, Industry, etc.). The Editor & Senior Coordinator conducts edits on the vast majority of front-facing collateral, including TIFF Lightbox programming and Festival-specific initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains Editorial standards (clarity, structure, grammar) and ensures adherence to TIFF's style guide on promotional copy as required (e.g., e-blasts, digital signage, website materials, press releases, closed captions, talent biographies)
Keeps track of requests for edits on assorted collateral to ensure a consistent voice across all public-facing communications; maintains a monthly tracking log of all past Editorial activities
Conducts on-the-fly edits and proofing of website copy, including timely implementation of revisions from internal and external stakeholders where appropriate
Conducts most of the Editorial team's data entry for tiff.net, both year-round and in preparation for/during the Festival
Manages ongoing seasonal programme-note databases and copy archives, in addition to copy tracking documents for year-round and Festival-related programming
Oversees programme notes -- encompassing first edits through to final approvals and proofing -- for initiatives, including the Festival, Programme Book, Canada's Top Ten, and Cinematheque
Edits yearly publications such as TIFF's Annual Report
Writes from scratch short programming descriptions and director biographies
Safeguards, implements, and oversees inclusive language standards and content advisories in consultation with other teams, namely Communications and Programming

Salary Range $50,000-$56,000

WORK LOCATION:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree or higher in journalism, film studies, media studies, communications, or related area of study
Minimum 3 years of experience writing/editing for web, communication, and marketing channels at an agency or large organization
Previous experience working in entertainment or arts and culture is a strong asset
Fluency in a second language considered an asset
SKILL:
Excellent editing and writing skills
Strong editorial judgement, including content direction and experience with inclusive-language guidelines
Facility with both critical and promotional writing
Great communicator and collaborator
Sense of humour is an asset
Strong knowledge of film
Ability to respond to fast-changing priorities and deadlines and to accommodate a flexible work schedule, allowing periodically for long hours and some evenings and weekends
Familiar with Google Workspace
Knowledge of user-experience and SEO best practices
Open to experimenting with technology, automation, and emerging tools
Experience working with a design and/or video team
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
Ideal work hours are 9:30am-5:30pm, Monday-Friday, with overtime required during busy times such as Festival or programme-launch lead-up. Occasional weekend work will be required.
This is a hybrid role, with the following weekly in-office requirements:
Minimum 2 days (November to May)
Minimum 3 days (June to October)
Full time (during Festival)
