Job Description

Job Summary:




The echocardiography sonographer is responsible to perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures/examinations & related duties working in collaboration with cardiologists, physicians & other health care professionals.


Responsibilities:




Performs ultrasound imaging procedures spanning all applicable modalities: transthoracic echocardiogram (TTE), bubble studies & Definity contrast. Operates ultrasound/ancillary equipment and instruments, while ensuring they are performing in an efficient and effective manner. Prepares written and electronic reports required to document all procedures and test results. Performs patient handling responsibilities to facilitate the provision of optimal care for patients of all ages and abilities. Collaborates with hospital units across all sub-specialties to provide timely diagnostics while prioritizing according to physician input and urgency. Works in a safe manner and promotes health and safety in the workplace. Adheres to departmental and legislated health and safety standards. Communicates issues and concerns to the Manager/Director. Attends and participates in staff meetings. Attends and completes hospital/team training. Assists in the orientation/preceptorship of new staff members and students. Performs other duties consistent with job classification, as required.

Requirements:




Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography diploma from an accredited program. Active membership with the Sonography Canada or the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Member in good standing with College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO). Current BCLS. Two (2) years recent and relevant experience. Successful completion of IV contrast media injection course/experience required.

Hours of Work:

Available for all shifts including weekends and statutory holidays.
