SALARY

For ECE/IT Teacher: $20 \xe2\x80\x93 $23/hour depending on education and experience. This wage is NOT INCLUSIVE of $4 wage enhancement per hour for qualified ECE Teachers under current BC Government scheme. If you qualify for the wage enhancement, it will be included on top of your hourly wage.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Develop and implement educational experiences that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
  • Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest
  • Provide opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity
  • Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
  • Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor
  • Knowledge of licensing regulations
  • Establish and maintain expectations for child behaviour
  • Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
  • Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with Head Teacher
  • Support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
  • Serve snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
  • Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors
  • Discuss progress and problems of children with Head Teacher
  • Assist in daily record keeping (behaviour/attendance)
Requirements:

ECE or ECE/IT certificate, First Aid certificate & clear Criminal record check

Experience:
  • Previous experience is an asset but not a requirement
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication in English
Job Type

ECE Teacher: Full time 37.5 \xe2\x80\x93 40 hours/week (School hours are 8:45 am \xe2\x80\x93 5:30 pm). Please note that this position runs on a school year from September to August annually.
