Gain a sense of culture, community and adventure as you work in an Indigenous reserve this summer as an Early Childhood Educator. STEM Canada has a STEM Hive and Literacy Program in remote First Nations community as we are seeking 2 amazing ECE's to work with us this summer.

We will pay for your travel and accommodations for this amazing opportunity. Spend the next 2-3 months on the coast of the St Lawrence River, surrounded by the picturesque coastline and mountains.

STEM Montessori Academy of Canada (SMAC-SIAC) is a registered not-for-profit organization specializing in science, technology, engineering, and math. (STEM) programming is open to all students with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and application. The SMAC will specialize in an advanced bar-none. STEM based educational curriculum that emphasizes the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).

YOU MUST BE READY AND AVAILABLE TO TRAVEL TO QUEBEC FOR THIS ROLE BEGINNING JUNE 6, 2025 - paid travel and accommodtions

Planned Start Date:

June 6, 2025 for 8 weeks.

Shift will vary from: 25 hours to 40 hours per week

ROLE DESCRIPTION:



STEM Canada is a dynamic and innovative organization seeking a highly skilled and passionate

Literacy Teacher or Early Childhood Educator to lead our literacy program with students ages 2-6.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engaging and mentoring students in literacy programs, and possess experience with teaching young children foundational skills in math, reading, writing and motor skills. Experience teaching science and STEM subjects an asset. We are seeking candidates with a strong passion for teaching and mentoring early years students, with a strong respect and knowledge of Indigenous culture and traditions.

DUTIES:



Designing and implementing reading, writing and math exercises to increase literacy capacity. Planning and delivering engaging and interactive art and STEM-based lessons and activities may be required. Be self-motivating and enthusiastic in carrying out the duties, fostering self-esteem, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills. Ensure the atmosphere is inclusive, welcoming, and safe for all children of an indigenous backgrounds. Be accepting of all children without regard to race, creed, religion. Assist in developing and implementing literacy early and learning activities, hands-on learning, and projects to help students apply their knowledge and understanding in literacy. Creating an atmosphere of

inclusion,

experimentation, innovation, and exploration where students can apply the learning in a fun and engaging environment. Assessing student progress and providing constructive feedback to support their learning journey. Must be comfortable creating meaningful content related to literacy, culture, and art. Supporting and mentoring students as they work on project and assignments. Provide weekly reports on your students, complete appropriate attendance records, daily log, and program plans as required.

Requirements:



Vulnerable Sector police clearance check - A MUST within the last 12-months from date of issue. Must be available Monday to Friday 5 consecutive days a week for 8 weeks June 6 - August 1, 2025 MUST be dependable and organized Exhibit personal suitability and flexibility Have exceptional interpersonal skills Have excellent oral and written communication skills. Previous online teaching experience would be an asset. Post-secondary students and grad students welcome to apply.
