The ECE educator and Supervisor Assistant is responsible for the day-to-day running of the center And teaching in a classroom as a lead registered ECE. He/she shall supervise and act as a mentor by guiding staff in appropriate methods of caring for and educating children and program management. He/she shall ensure all staff comply with local regulatory requirements, policies and procedures. The supervisor assistant will maintain open communication with families and staff and should have a fluent understanding of child development and be certified in early childhood education.
We are looking for someone to assist our on-site supervisor and teach in our classroom as a head teacher.
Qualifications
Required
Minimum of three (3) years' experience as an RECE.
Certificate in WHMIS and Health and Safety training
Valid Food Handler Certification within 2 years of expiry (or willing to certify prior to employment)
Demonstrated in depth knowledge of: Toronto Children's Services - AQI, CSIS, etc., CCEYA (current and new legislation) and CCLS
Expert level knowledge and experience to facilitate and support the implementation of How Does Learning Happen? foundations, goals and expectations* Occupational Health and Safety Act
Current Canada Food Guide requirements
Toronto Public Health guidelines, requirements and legislation
Demonstrated knowledge of Human Resource management best practices
QuickBooks (or comparable financial software), payroll management software, and Online banking experience
Additional Skills:
Ability to create a positive environment for staff, families and children while modeling appropriate behaviors and maintaining professionalism.
Proven effective leadership, change management and interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution and ability to effectively communicate with children, teaching staff, families, government officials and vendors.
Previous experience in managing a large and diverse workforce.
Capacity to build and lead strong, cohesive teams and build strong relationships with children and their families.
Ability to work independently and to take initiative to respond effectively to new and/or changing circumstances and requirements.
Previous experience in budget planning and monitoring budgets.
Experience working with lead conversion as well as maintaining wait lists.
Demonstrated strong administrative, communication and interpersonal skills
Computer literacy skills - intermediate/advanced Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
Ability to work flexible hours (weekdays between 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
Ability to occasionally work outside of operating hours (i.e. attend staff meetings, special events, professional development, attending meetings/workshops)
Child Care Management certificate or equivalent an asset.
Familiar with Montessori curriculum and Materials.
