Position Summary:
The RECE / Supervisor Assistant will work collaboratively with the daycare supervisor to support the daily operations of the Montessori childcare program. This role combines classroom responsibilities with administrative and leadership support, ensuring that the program meets the requirements of the CCEYA (Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014), Montessori best practices, and the daycare's policies and procedures.
The ideal candidate is a caring, organized, and reliable professional who can both nurture children in a Montessori classroom environment and assist the supervisor with administrative duties.
Key Responsibilities
Classroom & Childcare Responsibilities:
Plan, implement, and evaluate developmentally appropriate and Montessori-inspired activities for children.
Create a nurturing, stimulating, and safe environment that fosters independence, exploration, and learning.
Observe and document children's progress, behaviors, and developmental milestones.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitary regulations at all times.
Establish positive, respectful relationships with children, parents, and staff.
Supervisor Assistant Responsibilities
Assist the supervisor with daily administrative tasks, including attendance, scheduling, and parent communication.
Support the supervisor with staff coordination, including orientation of new employees and placement of students/volunteers.
Help ensure compliance with licensing requirements under the CCEYA and with Public Health guidelines.
Assist with program quality assurance, record-keeping, and preparation for ministry inspections.
Step into a leadership role in the supervisor's absence.
Qualifications & Requirements
Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE).
Knowledge of Montessori philosophy and experience in a Montessori setting (preferred).
Strong knowledge of the CCEYA and How Does Learning Happen? framework.
Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with children, families, and staff.
Current Standard First Aid & CPR (Level C) certification.
Current Vulnerable Sector Police Check.
Up-to-date immunizations as required by the Ministry of Education and Public Health.

Pay: $22.00-$28.00 per hour
