Xavier's School of Music is hiring a DRUM/PERCUSSION teacher based in Scarborough or North York (preferably around the Don Mills and Sheppard area).
We are looking for enthusiastic and passionate musicians who want to teach and who possess great communication skills.
Who are we?
Xavier's School of Music offers high-quality, private music lessons for students of all ages and skill levels.
We do not have a physical location, and all in-person lessons take place either in the teacher's home or the student's home. This means that you should have a suitable space for teaching music in your home and should be open to commuting to your student's home for weekly lessons.
We offer competitive hourly rates, flexible scheduling and resources, and administrative support to help you on your journey as a music teacher.

Location and Travel Requirements:
This job is
very
location-dependent, as many of our students are in North York and Scarborough. Teachers MUST be located either in Scarborough or North York
(specifically, teachers located around the Don Mills and Sheppard area would be preferred, but not required).* Candidates should be willing and available to teach out of their homes (students will come to your home for each lesson).
Candidates should be willing to commute to students' homes (in which case, you will be paid more to cover the cost of your commute).
Teaching Requirements:
Must be able to teach in-person
Candidates who are also able to teach online are preferred but not required
Plan lessons in relation to each student's unique goals and interests
A high level of musical competence and proficiency is expected. Familiarity with the RCM piano syllabus is preferred but not required.
Bachelor of Music degree (preferred but not required).
Reliable, patient, and willing to work with students of all ages and skill levels.
Must possess excellent communication skills (this means responding to messages and emails in a timely manner, and keeping parents up to date regularly on their child's progress)
Able to teach technique and repertoire in a fun, engaging manner and customize the curriculum for each student, based on their skill level, learning style, and musical interests.
Other requirements:
Must have successfully completed a Criminal background check within the past year (or willing to complete one if you are hired).

Contract length: 12 months (subject to renewal based on the teacher's performance and availability)
Salary: $24.00-$38.00 per hour*
*Based on your years of teaching experience and your willingness to commute to students' homes to teach.
