What You'll Do

As the Drill & Blaster Supervisor, you will support the Drill and Blast Operations supporting the Regional Managers. You will be responsible for overseeing and managing on blast and other operational activities within the region. Other duties will include:

Implement Dyno Nobel Blasting SOPs/ExMS

Compile blast reports (paper and electronic) for Regional Manager

Blast planning: Blast layout, drill accuracy, shot timing, shot video, face profile, vibration monitoring and bore hole deviation

Use of all Blast support hardware and software, such as seismographs, face profiler, survey equipment, GPS, video camera/editing, boretrack

Assist with blast site hazard assessments to ensure the blast site is a safe work environment for all involved.

Communicate all relevant information to the blast crew, including a review of the hazard assessment through the safety tailgate meeting.

Ensure that all equipment to be used in that operation is in good operating condition

Ensure that all regulations, both federally (TDG, Explosives Act, Bulk Regulations, WHIMIS) and provincially (Blasting Safety and OH&S Regulations) are adhered to within the operation with regards to personnel workings, product storage, and product transportation.

Ensuring that company policies, safe work practices, hazard analysis, and standard operating procedures are up-to-date and followed by the employees.

Inventory management for Class 1 magazines within the Region

What We're Looking For:

Completion of high school (Grade 12) or extensive experience in the related fields.

Post-secondary education related to Drilling, Blasting, Mining, Mineral resources or Surveying considered an Asset.

Must have good knowledge of MS Office, knowledge of SAP also an asset

Ability to operate specialty equipment for specific measurements required in this field.

Ability to communicate effectively in the terminology related to the field in the form of verbal and written reports.

A positive professional and courteous attitude is an asset when dealing with customers on a daily basis.

Good physical condition is required with the ability to repeatedly handle 25 kilogram units

Clean driving record, use of respirator, pass Drug and Alcohol Test, pass Miners Medical, obtain security clearance (background check) for handling explosives
