Job Description

Reporting to the Underground Engineering Coordinator, you will be part of the Engineering Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle\xe2\x80\x99s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

• Responsible for the design, review and approval of drilling, loading and tie-in designs for underground production stopes, as well as for other drilling/blasting activities underground;
• Align activities of Drill & Blast Design Specialist to ensure production targets are met;
• Develop and maintain high technical standards for drilling & blasting;
• Keep track of all the drilling and blasting performances through data reporting and databases;
• Assist the Production Engineer for short and long term planning of drill & blast activities;
• Evaluate in-situ performance and adjust D&B parameters accordingly;
• Conducts audits/inspections and optimization programs, to reduce drill deviation and maintain dilution control;
• Manages the underground blasting seismograph program;
• Promote innovation and continuous improvement in safety and productivity;
• Provide vacation relief to Production Engineer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Mining Engineering;
• 4+ years of progressive experience in underground mining;
• Previous experience in drill & blast will be highly regarded, particularly in gold mining;
• Professional designation (P.Eng) in the Northwest Territories/Nunavut or able to quickly obtain designation;
• Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint and mine design/planning software (Deswik an asset).

Note that the official working language at Meadowbank Complex is English.

Your Work Schedule:

• Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;
• Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
