Purpose of the Position



At Swirltex, we do things differently! We are looking for a

Drafter

who thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment and enjoys transforming ideas into detailed, accurate designs. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the design, fabrication, and documentation of Swirltex wastewater treatment systems.

As a valued member of our engineering and operations team, you will create and maintain 2D and 3D drawings, support design coordination, and help ensure every project moves smoothly from concept to commissioning.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities



Prepare detailed

2D and 3D drawings

for wastewater treatment systems, including process flow diagrams, P&IDs, general arrangements, and fabrication details.

Collaborate with engineers to

develop and update design packages

, ensuring drawings meet project specifications and standards.

Assist in the

layout and modeling

of mechanical equipment, piping systems, and skid-mounted assemblies using

AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar software

.

Maintain drawing databases, revision logs, and document control procedures to ensure up-to-date and accurate project records.

Support the preparation of

fabrication, assembly, and installation drawings

for internal and vendor use.

Review and interpret

engineering sketches, specifications, and field data

to prepare clear and accurate drawings.

Assist with

BOM (Bill of Materials)

creation and updates.

Coordinate with procurement, fabrication, and field teams to resolve design-related questions and provide technical support.

Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement efforts to enhance system standardization and drafting efficiency.

Perform other related duties as assigned to support project and company objectives.

Qualifications



Diploma or Certificate in

Engineering Design and Drafting Technology

,

Mechanical Engineering Technology

, or related field.

1-3 years of drafting or design experience

(preferably in water/wastewater, industrial, or mechanical systems).

Proficient with

AutoCAD

,

Inventor

, or similar 2D/3D CAD platforms.

Experience preparing fabrication and assembly drawings, P&IDs, and equipment layouts.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.

Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, fabricators, and field teams in a dynamic environment.

Understanding of piping design, fluid systems, and process equipment layout is an asset.

Familiarity with

electrical or controls schematics

is an asset.

Willingness to learn and grow with an innovative, evolving technology company.

Assets (Nice to Have):



Understanding of electrical systems, control narratives, or programming (PLC/HMI/SCADA).

Hands-on experience with construction support, commissioning, or operator training.

Location and Travel



Calgary, AB

Travel: Up to 30%;

Must have a valid passport and driver's license;
