We're growing and are seeking an
experienced Dog Daycare Handler
with prior experience in dog daycare, boarding, or kennel environments. This is an opportunity to join a supportive, dog-loving team that values professionalism, safety, and compassion.
Position Details
Schedule:
Part-time, 20-30 hours per week
Morning shifts: typically between 7:00-9:00 AM start
Afternoon shifts: typically between 11:00 AM-1:00 PM start
Shifts are approx. 6 hours each
Training schedule may vary to ensure full role coverage
Flexibility is required, though we can accommodate some commitments
Potential for increased hours
once reliability and skills are demonstrated
Compensation:
$18.00/hour during the first month, with a pay review and potential raise after a performance evaluation
Key Responsibilities
Maintain cleanliness and safety of assigned playgroups (clean up, accident management, debris removal)
Manage safe and positive playgroups while ensuring adequate rest and enrichment for all dogs
Support daily routines in collaboration with the Manager and team leads
Communicate effectively with management about dog behaviours, concerns, or special needs
Follow opening and closing protocols as assigned
Ensure awareness of special instructions for dogs with unique needs
Perform general cleaning tasks including laundry, dishes, floor sanitation, and yard/fence cleaning to keep the facility spotless
Essential Skills & Qualifications
Minimum
1 year of experience
in dog daycare, boarding, or kennel environments
Strong working knowledge of
canine body language and group play dynamics
Ability to stay calm, confident, and proactive in off-leash group settings
Commitment to
positive reinforcement handling only
Excellent interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills
Strong written and verbal communication abilities
Exceptional customer service skills
Comfortable with client check-in and scheduling software (training provided)
Physically able to:
Be on your feet up to 6 hours
Lift up to 50 lbs
React quickly in fast-moving situations
Reliable, responsible, and able to provide strong references
Must be
18+
and legally authorized to work in Canada

Reading and interpreting dog behaviour and body language
Monitoring and guiding group dynamics to maintain safe, fun play
Applying proven playgroup management techniques
Confidently supervising and handling off-leash dogs of all sizes, breeds, temperaments, and energy levels
