Position Description
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and detail-oriented Divisional Controller to join our finance team. This role requires a highly organized and motivated individual capable of managing multiple divisions, providing timely and accurate financial information to the district managers and VP of Finance, Solid Waste - Western Canada. Ensuring full compliance and completeness of reports to allow managers to make informed decisions regarding day-to-day activities. The ideal candidate will possess a CPA and have 5 - 7 years of operational accounting experience.
In this position:
You will interact with employees from all aspects of the business including Operations, Sales, Dispatch, and Customer Service.
Work closely with the broader finance team supporting month-end close, meeting corporate timelines.
Provide analysis and recommendations for continuous improvement of financial information and internal control.
Provide technical accounting support for special projects as needed by the VP of Finance, Solid Waste - Western Canada and Corporate finance team.
Responsibilities:
Support month-end close process - completion of month-end financial reports inclusive of balance sheet reconciliations that are managed at the divisional level.
Analyze financial results and identify cost drivers with assistance from district managers, for assigned divisions.
Prepare monthly managers operating reports (MORs) with variance analysis.
Maintain fixed assets continuity schedules and amortization tables, review and record monthly amortization.
Assist with year-end financial reporting.
Support regulatory requirements - GST and income tax queries.
Support external audit requests.
Qualifications
CPA designation or equivalent.
Minimum 5 - 7 years operational accounting experience.
Must have experience with Sage 300 or similar enterprise management and accounting application.
Experience in the transportation and/or environmental/waste services industries as well as with Trux and/or Navusoft Business Solution Software would be considered an asset.
Advanced computer skills in all office programs - Outlook, Word, Excel.
Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Flexibility and willingness to work simultaneously on a wide range of tasks and projects.
Proven ability to work independently and collaborate with others to achieve desired results.
