We are currently hiring District Commissionaires to support operations within the Calgary Police Service (CPS) District Offices. This is a respected, high-responsibility position that plays a vital role in ensuring the safety, security, and operational continuity of CPS facilities.

About the Role
As a District Commissionaire, you will be a key frontline representative of Commissionaires within CPS District Offices. You will support CPS members by:

  • Ensuring secure and organized handling of essential police equipment
  • Conducting regular interior and exterior patrols
  • Responding to emergencies and reporting incidents promptly
  • Providing exceptional customer service to CPS staff and authorized visitors
  • Supporting daily operations through accurate documentation and administrative duties
This role is well-suited for individuals who excel in structured environments, demonstrate strong attention to detail, and are committed to public safety.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and track police equipment such as radios, body armor, tasers, and other operational gear
  • Maintain clean, orderly, and secure working environments
  • Perform regular patrols and monitor building alarms, gates, and security systems
  • Provide access control and escort contractors as needed
  • Prepare logs, reports, rosters, and supply requests
  • Support and mentor new Commissionaires joining CPS District operations
  • Uphold Commissionaires' standards for conduct, professionalism, and appearance
What You Bring
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Alberta Security License
  • Valid First Aid certification
  • Valid Driver's License
  • PAL (Possession Acquisition License)
  • Strong communication skills and a professional, customer-focused attitude
  • Ability to work independently, with sound judgment and strong situational awareness
  • Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office proficiency required)
Physical Requirements
  • Able to perform interior/exterior foot patrols in all weather conditions
  • Able to climb stairs, lift 30 lbs., and maintain prolonged focus on CCTV systems
  • Able to stand or sit for extended periods depending on duties
  • Able to respond promptly to radio and telephone communication
Working Conditions
  • Casual / On-Call - shifts may be offered with short notice
  • 12-hour day & night shifts (06:00-18:00 / 18:00-06:00)
