Position Title: Distribution Manager - Broker Operations

Team and Location: Canada Operations - Ontario

Minimum Starting Salary from: $ 99,840 /year

Position Summary:

The primary purpose of this position is management of all Distribution functions involved in the movement of more than 2.0 BL of clean fuels across Ontario through Broker Operations with full responsibility for safety and service levels. This role also leads Broker contact negotiations, development of Distribution Team members, supports acquisition and integration activities and provides guidance to the DLT for all logistics related activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring Broker operations are managed to prevent incidents (injuries, near misses, spills, mixes, property damage, etc.), and to minimize Parkland liability in the event of an incident and oversee all incident response activities with the support of Parkland HSE.
  • Effective distribution of products to Retail and Commercial business in Ontario, managing service levels, costs, and internal charges. This includes coordinating Broker deliveries and covering dispatch responsibilities as needed
  • Collaborating and Supporting the RDM, DM, Commercial and Retail Teams, Broker Operations to ensure service levels are managed and optimize the best mode of transport to minimize risks and control freight costs.
  • Supporting the RDM to help control freight costs through negotiating and effective management of Individual Brokers, with a total annual expense spend of approximately $20M and a delivery count that exceed 30,000 per year.
  • Schedule and manage Fleet Maintenance for the Parkland owned equipment, including measuring, and tracking costs per liter, cost per kilometer and provide recommendations on equipment needs and budgeting
  • Engaging the sales Divisions to ensure the Broker Fleet has the capability to meet our requirements.
  • Understanding the Canadian market for 3rd party carrier services, including the macro challenges that face the trucking industry and the resulting trends in freight pricing and ability to serve.
  • Understanding the refined product supply chain, terminal network, loading processes, and Parkland supply contracts and processes for nominations and lift direction.
  • Coordinate Broker activities during supply shortages to all available products are lifted and distributed optimally, which includes working very closely with Branch and division management on an hour-by-hour basis to understand business priorities.
  • Executing supply arbitrage opportunities.
  • Supporting the FOP team to reduce errors and manual transactions, including those caused by carriers and wasteful internal processes.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • 5 years Industry related experience \xe2\x80\x93 logistics management
  • Knowledge of TDG, CFA regulations, Land Transportation Spill Response Guidelines, WHMIS.
  • Expert understanding of refinery terminal loading processes.
  • Strong negotiating skills are a requirement.
  • University degree in Business management would be an asset.
  • Prior experience working for a transportation or logistics company would be an asset.
  • Parkland JDE system knowledge: LIFT, TCM, Badge management, and JDE transportation module
  • Proficient use of MS Office.
