One of the largest General Contractors in the Transmission & Distribution industry is currently hiring an Experienced Distribution Engineer to join their team in Ontario to lead and support multiple distribution projects in Toronto!

This is a technical role; they are looking for an engineer with previous experience in power distribution design with Ontario Utility Owners specifically. They will spend 70% of their time doing design and the other 30% supporting technologists on the team, stamping their designs. The scopes are but not limited to; Overhead electrical, Underground Civil Rehab projects, Capital rebuild, Network Rebuilds etc.

Job Duties:

• Prepare the design of overhead and underground power delivery systems ranging from 4kV to 27.6kV by creating detailed scopes and estimates, performing calculations, developing design drawings following applicable utility standards.
• Prepare, create, modify or review civil and electrical design, approve, and stamp them.
• Perform engineering calculations such as voltage drop, pole loading analysis, cable pulling calculation or review the calculations created by design technicians.
• Select or verify adequately rated equipment or components, including appropriate cable/wire ampacities for electrical distribution system.
• Conduct routine field trips to verify or evaluate the condition/state of assets, to determine the feasibility of designs, to take detailed measurements.
• Help coordinate construction projects - liaise, consult and communicate with our customer.
• Demonstrated experience on overhead third-party attachment analysis on utility poles using SPIDAcalc
• Inspect job sites during and after construction for compliance with specs.
• Attend design and project meetings as required.

Required Qualifications:

• Professional Engineering Designation (P.Eng)
• 10 years of Power Distribution Project Experience in Ontario.
• Overhead and Underground Distribution Project Experience.
• MicroStation, SpidaCalc and Pull Planner Software Proficiency
• Excellent knowledge and ability to perform Voltage drop, Pole loading, Cable Pulling Calculations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• AutoCAD Experience
• Streetlighting Design
