Lakeshore

The

Dishwasher/Prep Cook

supports the kitchen team by ensuring all dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen surfaces are cleaned, sanitized, and organized in accordance with Ontario public health and food safety standards. This role helps maintain a safe, efficient, and hygienic kitchen environment, and also provides support by assisting with food preparation tasks as needed. This role reports to the Food & Beverage Supervisor for their location.

WHAT YOU WIL DO:



Operate commercial dishwashing equipment to wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and glassware Hand-wash specialty items when required Ensure all cleaned items are sanitized, dried, and stored properly Maintain cleanliness of dishwashing station, sinks, floors, counters, and garbage/recycling areas Follow Ontario Public Health guidelines for sanitizing food-contact surfaces and equipment Assist with basic food prep (e.g., peeling, chopping) as directed, following safe food-handling practices Help receive and store deliveries, ensuring proper rotation (FIFO) Restock kitchen areas with clean dishes as needed Empty garbage, compost, and recycling bins; replace liners; transport waste to designated areas Adhere to Ontario Food Premises Regulation (O.Reg 493/17) and internal food safety standards Follow Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements, including safe lifting and use of chemicals Use proper personal protective equipment (PPE) as required Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or sanitation concerns immediately Work collaboratively with chefs, servers, and other staff to maintain efficient kitchen operations Maintain a positive, professional, and respectful attitude in a fast-paced environment Other tasks as assigned

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:



Current Food Handler's certificate required WHMIS certification - training provided No prior experience required - training provided Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks Ability to lift up to 40 lbs (e.g., loaded bins, equipment) Strong attention to cleanliness and detail Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
