Join our team and empower young individuals to apply the skills they\'ve honed during their academic years through community-based activities like volunteering. OVERVIEW As a Disabilities Life Skills Support Worker, you will assist young adults in acquiring essential life skills to allow them to achieve their personal goals outlined in their customized Individual Service Plan across our program streams. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES \xc2\xb7 Teach participants all the necessary tasks for effective delivery of the program curriculum \xc2\xb7 Assist in implementing individual service plans for each participant \xc2\xb7 Uses assessment tools to support goal-setting and decision making \xc2\xb7 Provide participants with a safe and nurturing environment for learning \xc2\xb7 Provide emotional support and guidance to participants and initiate positive group interaction \xc2\xb7 Manage crises effectively and document resolution and action taken \xc2\xb7 Participate with students in social and wellness activities in the community \xc2\xb7 Produce written reports, including electronic reporting of documentation \xc2\xb7 Capable of working responsibly with highly confidential information \xc2\xb7 Must be able to implement proper support techniques when intervening with individuals \xc2\xb7 Transport students as needed \xc2\xb7 Attends and engages in mandatory and other agency training opportunities SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES \xc2\xb7 Belief in and knowledge of the potential abilities and skills of young adults living with developmental and intellectual disabilities \xc2\xb7 Professional, polite, and charismatic demeanor \xc2\xb7 Excellent interpersonal skills \xc2\xb7 Strong work ethic and ability to multitask \xc2\xb7 Ability to get along with others in a fast-paced environment \xc2\xb7 Experience working with our population \xc2\xb7 Knowledge of high-intensity behavioral supports is a must \xc2\xb7 Must be able to climb, bend, stoop, push, lift, pull, reach, sit and walk for periods \xc2\xb7 Must be able to project a professional image while interfacing with the community \xc2\xb7 Demonstrates ability to work independently as well as part of a team QUALIFICATIONS \xc2\xb7 College Degree or Certificate in related field of study or combination of experience. \xc2\xb7 Minimum of one year experience in supporting young adults with disabilities \xc2\xb7 Non- Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate or willingness to complete CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT \xc2\xb7 Applicants offered employment must complete and pass a \xe2\x80\x98police security clearance\xe2\x80\x99 and a \xe2\x80\x98vulnerable sector check\xe2\x80\x99 before employment is confirmed. \xc2\xb7 Valid Driver\xe2\x80\x99s Licence \xc2\xb7 Class 4 Driver\xe2\x80\x99s Licence \xc2\xb7 Proof of educational requirements APPLICATION PROCESS Calgary Quest Resources is looking to recruit a Disabilities Life Skills Coordinator who is passionate about the work we do!
