Working Arrangement Hybrid The Opportunity The Director of Mortgage Broker and Lender Support – acts as President of Broker Support Centre Inc.(BSC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Manulife. BSC maintains the software used to generate offer packages for Mortgage Protection Plan (MPP) and Credit Security Plan (CSP) insurance products. BSC also oversees processing of the completed insurance applications, safeguarding and controlling appropriate use of the data before submitting good quality applications to Manulife. As head of BSC you will lead and be actively engaged in the business areas and functions involved in providing administrative and technological support to our distributors (mortgage brokers and lenders), who generate the insurance offer as part of the mortgage application process, through a mortgage origination system. This includes (but not limited to) the following:

  • Providing technological support to onboard new and maintain existing mortgage origination system (MOS) partners in order to enable them to generate the mortgage creditor offer as part of the mortgage application process.
  • Providing support to onboard new distribution partners – such as mortgage brokers and lenders – providing them with requisite systems access and training as needed to effectively generate our offer
  • Overseeing all operational aspects – integrating system applications when necessary
  • Providing detailed reporting on lender results
  • Acting as party to and negotiating contracts with distributors and technology business partners involved in the offer of mortgage creditor insurance.
  • Providing third-party Relationship Management as required
As President of BSC, you will report to the Head of Mortgage Creditor Insurance. As a critical member of the leadership team, you will be active in shaping and supporting key strategic initiatives, while identifying additional opportunities designed to efficiently and effectively enhance our distribution, operations and processes. This role is also required to engage and collaborate with VP National Sales and Regional Sales Directors in support of their initiatives and effort to increase sales through efficient and effective use of our systems, processes, procedures and expanded distribution. This role works closely with Mortgage Creditor Sales Support Manager team and acts as SME on all relevant MCI projects and initiatives Promote and represent our business as you build and develop new and existing business partnerships Implement and sustain initiatives that support the efficient operation of the Mortgage Creditor and BSC business as we evolve our digital solutions. Lead, coach and manage the teams who operate within BSC, establishing standards and procedures to improve effectiveness and manage risk, while fostering a culture of high performance and engagement This role requires the ability to work at a strategic and operational level, developing a broad understanding of the day to day operations of the MCI business, a working knowledge of the market (Broker and Lender) and the ability to identify and articulate business opportunities and implications. Responsibilities
  • Manage and lead a high performing team of direct reports, including people leaders
  • Ensure the processes and operations which fall under the BSC umbrella are running efficiently and effectively
  • Be a key contributor to various initiatives and strategic projects
  • Collaborate closely with other members of the Mortgage Creditor Leadership Team (MCLT) on day-to-day operations as well as key account management
  • Manage some relationships with key third party partners, such as technology vendors
  • Proactively develop strategy to contribute to revenue growth and operational efficiency

We are looking for someone with:
  • Experience leading a team, specifically with a demonstrated history of strong employee engagement
  • Good knowledge of project management principles
  • Understanding of the creditor insurance industry in Canada
  • Strong knowledge of digital integrations (ASI, AGI, etc)
  • Relationship management experience
  • A capacity for constant learning from both success and failure
  • Open to change and continuous improvement
