The primary responsibility of the Director, Treasury Operations Advisory is to be the lead business relationship manager serving as the strategic interface between Treasury Operations and our business partners, banking partners and other external partners to promote, identify and affect operational efficiencies related to collection and disbursement activities. The incumbent is accountable to ensure all business, operational and strategic objectives are successfully achieved through effective and efficient implementation of processes, controls, and banking solution/services. This position has a significant customer service focus while also requiring adherence to various internal and external payment related compliance matters.

Responsibilities

Act as Treasury Operations lead for our business partners with an overall mandate to support these business partners with the best quality, efficient, and cost-effective treasury/cash management services using technology, innovative and control-oriented banking productions/solution.

Establish trust and credibility with internal and external partners building relationships and developing a deep understanding of operations, processes and needs related to payment activities.

Responsible for successfully negotiating for the implementation of Treasury Operations and business unit strategies.

Exhibit deep understanding of key operational functions of Treasury Operations and those of our internal and external partners.

Understanding of key trends in payments industry to support emerging payment modernization, better risk mitigation and compliance across our business.

Continuously review the needs of business partners against external marketplace and current/emerging trends within the banking and payment industries.

Identify any gaps in current processes or practices and recommend plan to address those gaps or implement innovative solution.

Serve as escalation point of contact for any inquiries raised by business divisions, banking partners, and other external partners to support through analysis, recommendation, resolution and implementation of required solutions efficiently and effectively.

Support initiatives through operational integration with business partner requirements and solutions.

Requires strong influencing and negotiating skills at all levels of senior management.

Accountable for banking relationships, including any production/services implementation, negotiations of bank service fees, problem resolution on production/project related issues, monitoring and assessing performance measurements of key banking partners against internal metrics.

Lead business partners\xe2\x80\x99 BAU/critical initiatives which impact or require support from Treasury Operations and Treasury Operations\xe2\x80\x99 initiatives relating to payment activities (including but not limited to real-time payments or other payment channels) and provide leadership in analyzing the feasibility and impact of business processes and Treasury systems, identifying and developing project related tasks/effort requirements, allocating resources and managing timelines, contributing to test plans and required user acceptance testing and coordinating implementation including change management requirements

Identify and implement process improvement opportunities in areas of responsibility, define user requirements and work with internal project team to implement viable solution to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of our collection and disbursement processes, including new banking solution

Responsible for coaching and mentoring of staff supporting responsible functions. Actively manage staff performance against Manulife\xe2\x80\x99s Values.

What we are looking for

Post secondary education in a financial field and/or minimum or 7 to 10 years progressive work experience in a related field.

Technical knowledge of cash management and banking principles, services, and systems in various countries (primarily Canada and U.S.).

Expert knowledge and understanding of banks, bank account structures, banking services and systems.

Ability to build and maintain strong business relationships with both internal and external partners. Thorough understanding of business relationship management, and customer service as it relates to operations within the financial sector (i.e., cash management and banking services)

Strong negotiation and problem resolution skills, particularly, with respect to legal contracts, RFPs, and agreements.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and solve complex situations.

Thorough understanding of control/risk principles as they relate to banking functions.

Proven project management skills, including strong communication and organization skills.

Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a service oriented interpersonal style.

Proven capability in listening, motivating, and managing change effectively. Ability to adapt to and meet multiple, tight deadlines and work well under pressure.

Good business judgement with the ability to juggle changing priorities and assign resources to high priority projects to meet the firm\xe2\x80\x99s obligations.

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Primary Location Toronto, Ontario

Salary range is expected to be between $103,050.00 CAD - $185,490.00 CAD
