Reporting to the AVP, Talent Management, Sun Life Canada, your work will have a significant impact on how we build talent to deliver on Sun Life Canada\xe2\x80\x99s strategic priorities. This role requires a strong talent leader who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced and high-energy environment. You have an innovative mindset and you are passionate about building and re-imagining People strategies for the future. You are comfortable leveraging data to help inform our talent strategies and actions with the goal of building an engaged, high performing, diverse and inclusive workforce.

What will you do:

  • Lead the implementation of SL Canada initiatives that emerge from the Talent Strategy aligned to the SL Canada business strategy, overseeing and continually improving current talent initiatives and partnering with relevant stakeholders on the development of new ones.
  • Work with the HR Business Partners and Global Talent Centers of Expertise (CoEs) to deliver talent management processes, programs, and practices, ensuring strong and effective implementation including but not limited to:
  • Career/Skills Development (Development planning, Skills framework, Opportunity Marketplace)
  • Rewards & Recognition (Enterprise and Business unit award programs and events, Recognition software platform and strategy)
  • Employee Experience (Engagement/Pulse/Exit survey insights & reporting, Employee Value Proposition, Future of Work)
  • Talent Management (Talent Review Process, Alumni strategy, Performance Management)
  • Participate as a partner in the design and on-going development and management of our global talent management processes, programs, and practices, sharing the strategic framework for the Business Group and advocating for their needs; offering counsel and expertise on unique Business Group circumstances and practices; and supporting the CoE process, program and practice owners to manage and deliver efficiently and effectively to the business.
  • Leverage data & analytics to understand and share the story on the strengths and challenges of our workforce, highlighting the current/future landscape for HR Business Partners to increase insight and action on key talent issues.
  • Partner with Director Diversity Equity & Inclusion to embed DE&I into all talent programs, practices and processes to build a diverse workforce, meet our established representation commitments and drive an inclusive environment.
  • Leverage the Global CoE resources and capabilities to help address unique Business Group/Functional needs, bringing the CoE expertise to Business Group/Business Unit/Functional decision-making tables, as practical, to provide assistance, support and consistency around how talent is managed throughout the organization.
  • Provide expertise and leadership in the talent domain, leveraging research, industry best practices and evolving trends to inform the talent strategy.
  • Construct, manage and oversee the delivery of sophisticated executive level presentations to articulate the talent narrative across the Business Group.
What do you need to succeed:
  • Undergraduate degree in an I/O Psychology, Learning or HR-related discipline, and/or combination of relevant work experience.
  • 10+ years of relevant, progressive work experience in Talent, Learning or HR.
  • Strong understanding of all HR disciplines and Talent program practices and their connection to employee experience and outcomes.
  • Action oriented, with the ability to ability to execute quickly, effectively, and consistently.
  • History of successful collaboration and relationship management adept at interacting with diverse groups of colleagues.
  • Ability to use influence and negotiation skills to effectively maneuver through complex situations, balancing stakeholder input while remaining objective to reach the right outcome.
  • Experience in managing change; clear understanding of the practical as well as the cultural implications of transformation.
  • Excellent and clear communication and facilitation skills; ability to develop and deliver presentation for all audiences from Employees to Executive leadership levels.
  • Mindset of innovation and continuous improvement showing proactivity to create best practices to work more effectively.
  • Strong systems thinking and the ability to identify solutions and associated impact.
  • Highly developed critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated People management experience to lead, coaching and empower others.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
