Purpose

The Director, Talent Development plays a key leadership role in guiding the team through progress of executing the Liberty talent strategy that will strengthen leadership capabilities, empower candid performance and development conversations, and generate talent insights that guide intentional decision making. The Director will ensure that we have the right tools, technology, processes, and programs in place to enable and grow leaders at all levels. Reporting to the VP - Culture, Talent Management, and Organizational Development, the Director will engage with HR and business leaders to support adoption and sustainability of learning opportunities and talent development practices that generate positive employee experiences and continue to evolve Liberty's company culture.

Accountabilities

  • Leads a team of 2 direct reports and 5 indirect reports.
  • Determines role accountabilities, recruits, develops, and retains team talent.
  • Provides directive and supportive leadership that helps team members show up as their best selves, contributing their expertise in meaningful and valued ways.
  • Leads the design, development, and delivery of leadership and core functional curriculums, annual planning, and partner collaboration.
  • Creates and embeds a learning brand that engages learners in open enrollment courses, programs, and partnerships.
  • Designs and develops enterprise mentoring and coaching programs for local usage.
  • Provides strategic input to the rollout and evolution of Liberty's talent approach.
  • Accountable for director-level talent assessments, succession planning, and development support.
  • Works directly with HR and business leaders to ensure insights are accurate and leaders are engaging, developing, rewarding, and growing their talent as applicable.
  • Provides direction and support in the implementation and adoption of Liberty's SAP learning and talent modules.
  • Determines how best to collaborate and leverage the Qualtrics platform.
  • Engages HR and business leaders to build awareness and adoption of best practices.
Education and Experience
  • Degree or diploma specializing in business, human resources, leadership, and/or adult learning
  • Certified professional coach through a nationally or globally recognized coaching organization
  • Master of arts in leadership and/or project management certification is an asset
  • 10+ years' experience in learning and/or talent management with a minimum of 5 years leading teams
  • Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and delivering sustainable processes and programs that embed learning and talent practices
  • Consistent inclusive leadership mindset and approach
  • Leadership presence that fosters credibility and generates buy-in
  • Deftly manages projects from conception to deployment
  • Communicates with compelling purpose for engaging in and embedding workplace practices that generate positive employee experiences
  • Keenly curious about the story within the data
  • Driven to achieve outcomes and accountable for how these are achieved
