About the role

We are currently looking for a Surety Practice Leader, UW & Talent Development for our Quebec Surety Department, which will play a vital role in supporting our growth. Work location: Montreal (2020, Robert-Bourassa blvd). The role: Under the supervision of the Director, Surety and in collaboration with team members, you are in charge of talent development and support the entire Quebec management team at several levels. In fact, your role within the team will mainly consist of:

  • Set up and monitor training for new and existing employees, in line with development plans, our business needs and succession plans.
  • Participate with the management team and underwriters in business development and the consolidation of broker/client relationships.
  • Support managers and underwriters at several levels: approval of annual reviews, special cases, claims requests, analysis of new files, broker/client visits, presentations to reinsurers, etc.
  • Contribute to the improvement and monitoring of underwriting processes and guidelines, in collaboration with the National Surety Solutions team.
  • Support the regional process of files on the Watch List.
  • Represent the organization and our team in various associations of which we are members as well as during meetings with public owners.
  • Distribute new business to different teams, depending on workload, region and established broker relationships.
  • Participate and lead the regional visibility working group.
  • Participate and lead various special projects (regional and national)





Qualifications




What you bring to the table:
  • University degree, with a specialization in accounting, administration and/or finance
  • Hold an accounting designation (CPA, CGA or CMA) or CFA, an asset
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in surety, accounting, administration and/or finance
  • Strong leadership in coaching and training
  • Excellent capacity for analysis, synthesis and decision-making
  • Knowledge of the surety and/or construction industry, an asset
  • Very strong skills in communication, and to develop business relationships and partnerships
  • Be customer-oriented, results-oriented and solution-oriented
  • Demonstrate Team spirit and innovation, and leadership in a changing environment
  • Build confidence and show excellent stress tolerance
  • Sense of organization, negotiation, meticulousness, autonomy and initiative
  • Lead by example, care about people and contribute to an open and honest workplace
  • Good knowledges of the Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent written and spoken French, intermediate level for English
