The Director of Supply Chain Planning leads, directs and oversees the planning function and respective teams of Lindt & Sprungli, Canada S&OP and Demand and Supply Planning. This position drives and leads efforts to develop aligned Demand, Supply and Inventory Plans, and communicates these plans to gain consensus from Sales, Marketing, Finance and Senior Management to support business strategy and goals. In addition, this position has the overall responsibility for developing and implementing strategic supply chain solutions to support current business needs and projected multi-year future growth. This role leads initiatives to ensure continuous improvement of the supply chain processes. By leading the S&OP process, this position enables the Executive team to continually achieve synchronization across the organization. This includes strategic and tactical decision-making related to balancing demand and supply; aligning volume and mix with co-packing and inter-company supply capacity and capability; and integrating marketing and financial plans with strategic objectives to deliver improved operating and financial results. This role represents Supply Chain in our Integrated Business Planning processes.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead demand and supply planning teams in driving operational excellence and best practices
  • Develop, coach/mentor teams and establish recruitment and onboarding for the planning teams
  • Determine inventory strategy for all semi-finished and finished goods for all business units, to deliver required customer service levels, while maintaining inventory commitments
  • Drive improvements in the demand planning process to ensure short and long term plans achieve acceptable accuracy
  • Establishes a rolling twelve month supply plan for all sales channels resulting in monthly inter-company and co-packing requirements, taking into account lead-times, agreed stock levels and capacity restrictions
  • Manages sales volumes for all parts of the business; wholesale, retail, and online business
  • Responsible for material management, capacity planning and production scheduling for local packing operations.
  • Collaborates within the supply chain and with external partners to execute production plan to meet service objectives
  • Owns successful launch of NPI initiatives; launch timing and volumes, customer fulfillment
  • Responsibility for system capabilities and integration; driving continuous improvement in the tools we use, and the processes we follow
  • Collaborates with packaging team, and external suppliers to ensure the right material flow to meet the production schedule, and to manage net working capital
  • Responsible for ensuring best in class service to our customers
  • Working with Intercompany partners, ensures the right forecast is communicated, and the right production plans are in place to meet our demands
  • Work with IT to determine best system for all Supply Chain reports, ensuring data integrity and accuracy
  • Own the S&OP process across the business, collaborating with senior management on improving capabilities to plan and deliver on a growing business
  • Drives S&OP to support actions that meet and exceed annual objectives on business targets and requirements, inventory goals and customer service
  • Challenge demand and supply plan assumptions based on the analysis of historical data, market statistics, market dynamics and supply, purchasing and co-packing constraints. Identify risks and opportunities
  • Develop reports and metrics to track and monitor key S&OP performance measures at appropriate level and segments
  • Drives continuous improvement in all aspects of business planning and execution, working cross functionally on initiatives to drive best in class results
  • Represents supply chain in the Integrated Business Planning processes, ensuring all milestones are delivered to achieve company objectives
  • Works cross functionally to improve our ways of working, upgrading processes as needed
  • Partner with cross functional teams to Improve forecast accuracy resulting in improved customer service metrics & reduction of excess inventory to allow for better integration between different functions
  • Working cross functionally, ensures project deliverables are managed and met, to ensure flawless execution of our new launches into the business
  • Working cross functionally, decides on the most optimal route to market, to ensure best cost of goods possible


Qualifications:
  • A University Degree coupled with a proven track record in supply chain management with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in CPG
  • Minimum 10 years S&OP, supply planning and demand planning experience required
  • Experience working in a retail environment a strong asset
  • Experience in managing Product Life Cycle projects
  • Demonstrated track record in managing teams and working effectively across all functions and organizations
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationship with Executives, Directors and Managers in all departments
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with strong self-initiative to achieve high standards of service and performance while maintaining a high level of professionalism
  • Strong leadership skills to effectively lead new initiatives across the organization, and the ability to coach and motivate people while fostering and developing effective working relationships
  • Ability to understand the broader context of issues, understanding the organizational implications and relative priority
  • Proven project management skills, with a keen business sense and a focus on “adding value” to the organization
  • Strong continuous improvement and process mapping skills. The willingness to initiate, plan and implement, while also being able to challenge conventional thinking when required
  • Knowledge of forecasting tools, techniques and models including statistical forecasting
  • Good understanding or forecasting, planning and MRP processes and tools. (SAP-IBP a distinct asset)
  • Knowledge and experience with using ERP’s (JDE / SAP preferred)
