The Provost's Office team leads and supports strategic initiatives and drives operational excellence across the Provost portfolio, striving to provide the best support and guidance for our stakeholders inside and outside of the Office of the Provost.About the RoleThe Director, Strategic Operations & Initiatives works collaboratively with senior leadership team members in the Provost and Vice-President Academic portfolio to advance key initiatives and activities, and provide effective administrative leadership and support for an assigned set of operations. The role is responsible for facilitating resolution of issues affecting faculty, staff and students and proactively identifying opportunities to enhance services and drive efficiency/effectiveness. The role is responsible for coordinating workflows and ensuring that policies, procedures and processes are up to date and aligned with goals and objectives. The role also works collaboratively with members of the Provost's leadership team and colleagues across the university in the development, initiation and execution of projects and strategic initiatives.QualificationsMaster's degree and seven years of related experience in administrative, personnel and operations management, project and policy planning, in a university environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Excellent knowledge of university policies, procedures and collective agreements. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written). Excellent organizational, quantitative, analytical reasoning, problem-solving, and time management skills. Excellent personnel management and administration skills. Ability to translate concepts and broad strategies into tangible actions/plans. Ability to understand and interpret policies and collective agreements. Excellent operational planning and management skills. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise initiative, diplomacy, and discretionary judgment. Ability to independently research, analyze, interpret, and to respond appropriately in complex and sensitive situations. Ability to build consensus and negotiate solutions to sensitive problems. Ability to develop relationships and partnerships and to work collaboratively at all levels and areas within the organization. Proficient in the use of standard office applications, databases and enterprise-level financial systems (e.g., MS Office, PeopleSoft, Hyperion Planning).- Excellent knowledge of university policies, procedures and collective agreements.
