Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate will be working at our 1800 Alta Vista, Ottawa, Ontario office with a mixture of on and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement is subject to change, based on operational needs.

About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary full-time Director, Strategic Alliance & Integration to join our dynamic Strategic Planning & Integration team.

The Strategic Planning and Integration team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by establishing the development and implementation of processes that support the collection, delivery and distribution of our products that meet or exceed customer\'s expectations in accordance with our management system and all legislative and regulatory requirements.

In this role, you will direct and lead the development and implementation of major, high-profile, complex, multi-faceted, projects and programs that impact enterprise-wide operations and processes. To achieve these project goals this role will require you to utilize your strong interactive skills to establish working relationships with senior leaders, plasma operations and internal and external stakeholders.

Formula for success

  • Leveraging your effective leadership skills you will develop a collaborative strategy for implementation of an external-third party agreement for immunoglobulin security of supply; working with both internal and external stakeholders to assess business impacts you will develop strategy and plans that will identify the project/program approach, risks, costs, and timelines for implementation of the components of the agreement.
  • Drawing on your project management experience, you will lead activities in support of the implementation agreement, identifying and developing key working relationships both internally and externally, assessing and monitoring all identified risks throughout the life for the implementation agreement, ensuring analysis and resolution of all identified risks, escalating issues to Senior Leadership when required.
  • Utilizing your effective communication and partnership skills, you will work alongside Public Affairs to develop and execute communication plans and materials for both internal and external stakeholders. This includes providing relevant updates to all key stakeholders, project leaders and senior leadership team members.
  • Leveraging your effective partnership skills, you will work with internal partners to develop forecasts that will enable you to effectively monitor the overall plan for the implementation of the agreement, ensuring the plan is proceeding according to timelines, targets and expectations based on the established parameters.
  • Utilizing your financial knowledge and analytical skills, you will ensure all reporting obligations in regard to financial reporting, key performance metrics and other reporting requirements relating to the agreement are met.
Desired education and skills
  • Completion of post secondary education, preferably a university degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience, including at least 6 years of project management training and/or experience with large, multifaceted, highly complex projects and initiatives.
  • Risk management and risk mitigation experience is required.
  • Experience with communications would be considered a strong asset to this position.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered

What you can expect
  • This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at Canadian Blood Services head office location in Ottawa - 1800 Alta Vista Drive, 40% of the time/2 days of the week.
  • You will work Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours a day, additional hours may be required depending on project requirements.
