Senior Director, Strategic Sourcing & Innovation \xe2\x80\x93 Loblaw Real Estate (LRE)

As part of the LRE Leadership Team, the Senior Director Strategic Sourcing & Innovation will report directly to the Senior Vice President, Loblaw Real Estate. This role will lead the strategic sourcing strategy development, negotiation, contracting and supplier management for a complex portfolio in support of our retail locations nationally. The Senior Director will work closely with cross-functional teams across LRE and our operating divisions and serve as our key liaison with the enterprise procurement team to reduce total cost, be aware of industry key drivers, leverage world-class negotiation and efficient sourcing strategies, tools and processes, and mitigate risk through contract development. This leader will also be responsible for driving innovation in the LRE team on items that are procured and ultimately used in the design, construction and fixturing of our retail stores.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, lead, and implement all large-scale sourcing strategies for LRE, applying a disciplined methodology and procurement policies.
  • Act as the primary contact for the Enterprise Procurement team on behalf of the LRE team to provide insight and visibility to all sourcing activities.
  • Cultivate and strengthen relationships with suppliers, internal LRE teams and operating division stakeholders.
  • Build and implement a multi-year strategic procurement roadmap for LRE across all categories of spend.
  • Analyze market and delivery systems to assess current and future material availability and conduct spend, specification, demand, and market analysis to identify/evaluate value opportunities.
  • Drive end-to-end execution of sourcing category initiatives and ensure compliance with sourcing and contracting policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate effectively internally within LRE and Loblaw and with suppliers to gather data and develop analytical insights, using performance measures to monitor and track performance.
  • Define the market, cost structure, and suppliers and identify emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies across all categories of spend from design, planning, construction, fixturing, and maintenance. Ultimately develop, recommend, and implement sourcing agreements with key partners.
  • Build and sustain strategic supplier/vendor relationships and provide ongoing feedback throughout contract lifecycles to ensure transparency on success of procurement contracts and relationships.
  • Actively scanning the sourcing landscape for innovation in the retail environment, bringing that innovation to our internal LRE teams and operating divisions for consideration.
  • Actively seeking cost savings initiatives, ideas and methods through strategic sourcing.
  • Bring fresh and innovative thinking to our strategic sourcing methods.
  • Promote a work environment that fosters creative thinking, innovation, and rational risk-taking.
  • Manage multiple programs/projects simultaneously and resolve conflicting priorities and objectives.
  • Conduct regular Supplier Performance review meetings and facilitate negotiations of supply agreements with assigned suppliers.
  • Apply project management concepts to the planning and execution of the sourcing process.
Role Requirements
  • University or college degree in Business or Procurement, or an equivalent degree in a related field of study
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in construction sourcing or procurement
  • Deep experience and understanding of design, construction, fixturing and construction sourcing is critical to this role.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, problem solving, resourcefulness, and judgment skills.
  • Excellent relationship builder and collaborator
  • Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently.
  • Ability to drive collaboration across key stakeholder groups, including senior management, team members and other departments.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects in a constantly evolving work environment.
  • Ability to optimally handle timelines to ensure delivery of project objectives.
  • Strong technical skills (Excel, PowerPoint)
