Job Description


The Director, Regional Offices is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership by planning, directing and managing the Regional Offices. The incumbent is also responsible for providing leadership to staff and directing the overall performance and results of the Brandon and Thompson offices.

Job Duties:

Responsible for the overall management of all Regional Office services for the WCB.

Provides management, leadership, direction, guidance, and support to Brandon and Thompson staff. This includes responsibility for hiring, conducting performance reviews, labour relations, performance development, coaching and deciding on disciplinary action up to and including dismissal where necessary.

Works with each of their Manager/Supervisor to develop performance management frameworks, establish performance measures and targets, tracks and reports on performance results to senior Compensation Services leadership team as required.

Partners with other division business units to ensure Regional Office service delivery appropriately complements, augments and wherever possible enhances the overall effectiveness of the delivery of WCB services to customers.

Contributes to Compensation Services annual planning, identifying and assessing opportunities for improving service delivery and achieving Compensation Services\' and WCB strategic goals.

Reviews and monitors policies, procedures and processes, and in collaboration with the other Directors in the division, makes recommendations for enhancement, and participates in policy reviews, process and system improvements, and ensures staff understand and implement new policies/procedures consistently.

Addresses escalated customer service issues.

Liaises with local stakeholders and community organizations around issues of common concern including representing the Board at various regional public speaking engagements

Participates as a member on various joint committees

Works with the Communications division to identify marketing and advertising opportunities within the regional offices service area

Develops and manages the annual department administrative budget.

Pursues professional development through any of the following: literature reviews and research, training courses, continuing education, seminars and conferences and industry networking.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

University degree in a related discipline.

Minimum 5 years progressive management experience

Knowledge of managerial techniques and principles

Proficiency in the use of personal computers and software (Word/PowerPoint/Excel) in a Windows environment

Excellent research, analytical and problem solving skills

Superior written and verbal communication skills including the ability to develop and deliver presentations and reports to senior management and other stakeholders

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to use tact and discretion in dealing with sometimes confrontational situations

Ability to lead, manage, mentor and motivate staff

Ability to develop, interpret, apply and communicate policies and procedures

Ability to plan and manage multiple demands

Ability to manage, promote and lead organizational change

Ability to develop and manage budgets

Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Must be able to travel as required including within city limits and within the province of Manitoba

Knowledge of adjudication, disability management, vocational rehabilitation or case management programs, policies, procedures and principles would be an asset.

Additional Information:

Ability to communicate proficiently in both official languages (English & French) is an asset.

A satisfactory criminal record check and verification of education will be required for the successful candidate.
