DIRECTOR, OPERATIONAL AND FINANCIAL EXCELLENCE POSITION AT FOG SOFTWARE GROUP \xe2\x80\x93 a Constellation Software Division Who we are The Fog Software Group acquires, manages, and builds enterprise software companies in a variety of vertical markets. We have acquired about 40 companies, and we are different than many other organizations buying software companies in that we keep the companies autonomous, and we don\xe2\x80\x99t ever intend to sell the companies we buy. This means that we put a large emphasis on best practice sharing between the companies, and we take a very active role in helping them become market leaders in their segments over time. The Smart Manufacturing Portfolio of software companies is a relatively new division of FOG Software Group. The companies we buy in this portfolio are on a mission to enable the digital transformation of manufacturing and make manufacturing at large more efficient. The portfolio has grown rapidly in the last couple of years through additional acquisitions in North America and Europe and as a result, we are looking to expand our team. FOG is a subsidiary of Constellation Software Inc., the most successful technology stock in Canada over the last 10 years [TSE: CSU] with over 900 acquisitions since inception in 1995. Who we need Working directly with and reporting to the Group CEO of the Smart Manufacturing Portfolio, we are looking for a Director, Operational and Financial Excellence. You will lead the integration of newly acquired businesses and apply your expertise to guide the strategic decisions of the portfolio companies. You also will assist in financial reporting, presentations and other day-to-day assignments. If you have strong business acumen, analytical mindset, finance know-how, a strategic approach to operational optimization, and you love working with people to collectively raise the bar of what is possible, this is the role to consider. Our new headquarters are located in Oakville, just west of Toronto. However, this role can be performed remotely as the different businesses in the portfolio are spread out in North America and Europe. You will have to have the ability to travel up to 30% of your time to our different businesses (two businesses are located out of Oakville).   • Assist with M&A transactions. Provide support to the M&A team during due diligence processes, including evaluating significant contracts and assisting the team with financial and operational analysis.
  • Integrate acquisitions. Lead and manage the post-acquisition, operational and financial integration of new and future acquisitions. Ensure staff onboarding of new acquisitions is executed based on CSI best practices from both an operational and financial perspective.
  • Provide Operational analyses. Review various monthly and quarterly business indicators of existing subsidiaries and work with operational leaders to identify improvement opportunities. Develop and assist with executing effective action plans based on the data.
  • Lead initiatives. Prepare financial modeling for subsidiary-level, organic growth initiatives, and assist with business case preparation for initial approval by Leadership. Collaborate with stakeholders to implement, track, and assess the performance of approved initiatives.
  • Monitor investment metrics. Track, monitor, and report on investment metrics for the Portfolio, including strategic business acquisitions and ongoing subsidiary-level initiatives.
  • Provide Financial analyses. Prepare ad hoc financial analysis as required at Portfolio and subsidiary levels. Draw insights based on analyses performed and advise on improvement opportunities. Work directly with finance leads to implement, monitor, and track improvement plans to completion.
You will bring:
  • The experience. You have a degree or diploma in ideally Engineering with preference given to those with relevant further study/designations (MBA, CPA). You have experience in either a management consulting role, an engineering capacity in a manufacturing environment or in an operational role within a software company.
  • The technical skills. You have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. You are highly organized, able to balance competing priorities, adjusting proactively and rapidly responding to changes. You have advanced skills in MS Office Excel.
  • The personality. Our business is one in which building relationships and working effectively with others on the team plays an important role. You are driven to perform, results-oriented and willing to do what it takes in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment. You are an enthusiastic, energetic self-starter who likes to make suggestions and ideas on improving the status quo. You are capable of gaining trust, and influencing department heads to guide their decisions based on your insights, analysis, and experience.
  • The communication skills. You have exceptional written and verbal abilities and confidence in presenting to senior executives, customers, and colleagues. You have a deep appreciation for diverse experiences and approaches.
  • The Flexibility. As the workload varies based on e.g. acquisitions, you are flexible to do what it takes to meet specific deadlines.
