Job description Position Summary Director of Sales & Marketing?s primary role is to ensure the overall success of the Hotel by meeting or exceeding the Company?s top line revenue goals, efficiently managing sales and marketing expenses, training and developing sales team members, and actively participating in Company events and programs. This will include daily sales efforts, overall positioning of the hotel, brand communication and the development of guests for the property including, Rooms, Dining Outlets, and Events. Furthermore, they are responsible for rental revenue, yield strategies, implementation, market performance, forecast, and optimal business mix targets. Strategies will include pricing, direct sales, market mix, marketing, and public relations. Candidates must have a dynamic leadership style, possessing excellent communication and decision making skills and an astute business acumen. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic Sales and Marketing plans for the Hotel designed to achieve Company financial objectives. This includes all revenue streams of a full service operation.
  • Achieve budgeted revenues and personal/team Sales goals and maximize profitability.
  • Review weekly and monthly reports and sales forecasts to analyze current/potential market and sales trends.
  • Coordinate activities to increase revenue and market share and monitor performance to ensure actual sales meet established revenue plan.
  • Create effective Sales Programs that will increase awareness and positive perception of the Hotel, its activities, culinary services, and personnel
  • Create and develop special events, programs and sales blitzes to showcase the Hotel to potential clients.
  • Establish performance and development goals for team members, and implement continuous improvement plans.
  • Ability to effectively listen, communicate and perform diplomacy with internal and external customers and staff in all situations.
  • Provide mentoring, coaching and regular feedback to help manage conflict, improve team member performance and recognize good performance.
  • Educate, train and motivate Sales and Marketing team to achieve Hotel revenue goals.
  • Ensure staff has the training, market data, tools and equipment to be successful.
  • Develop awareness and reputation of the Hotel and the brand in the local community.
  • Work closely with key business leaders, officials, and representatives of local community groups within the city to ensure constant high profile exposure for the hotel.
  • Knowledge of travel industry, current market trends and economic factors
  • Develop rates, group sales deployment strategies through review of competitive data, demand analysis and mix management.
  • Direct and manage all group, transient, and banquet sales activities to maximize revenue for the hotel.
  • Prepare, implement and compile data for the strategic sales plan, monthly reports, annual goals, sales and marketing budget, forecasts and other reports as directed/required.
  • Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within the market.
  • Assure that all actions and transactions are handled in a legal, ethical manner.
  • Represent Hotel at trade shows, conventions, receptions and promotional events.
  • Ability to stand and move throughout the hotel property and continuously perform essential job functions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • May participate in Manager on Duty Program
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor?s degree or equivalent experience in Hospitality Sales & Marketing.
  • Three or more years of experience in a full service hotel Sales and Marketing setting, with direct Sales team leadership experience.
  • GTA market knowledge an asset.
  • Proven ability to build and foster relationships.
  • Experience using Opera & Delphi would be a great asset.
  • Some travel required.
