The Director of Sales & Marketing is responsible for supporting, encouraging and leading a united team that builds and develops a global brand by increasing brand awareness, growing market share, and surpassing sales targets. To accomplish this, the Director of Sales & Marketings primary areas of focus include 1) team management, 2) sales, marketing and strategic planning, and 3) forecasting and results analysis.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruit, interview, hire and train direct reports on the Sales & Marketing team
Oversee the daily workflow of the department
Demonstrate leadership with professionalism and respect for others, and foster interdepartmental collaboration and understanding
Conduct regular one on one meetings with direct reports to check in on progress, alleviate concerns or provide direction on key priorities
Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations, training and coaching as necessary
Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policyRESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Team Management

  • Oversee Sales & Marketing team and ensure they have the tools and targets they need to succeed
  • Set the direction and support the development and growth of global distributor, dealer and D2C sales channels
  • Support the Sales Manager to ensure the sales team consistently meets their monthly and quarterly sales targets across all 4iiii products, and that they create and track their sales funnels
  • Manage teams through weekly calls/meetings, monthly reviews, quarterly planning and annual strategy sessions
  • Monitor sales and marketing performance and providing regular reports to senior management
  • Develop and manage department budget
  • Assist in the creation of product design, packaging, labeling, distribution, print and online advertising
  • Build and maintain a network of industry contacts and other key relationships in order to stay current with emerging market trends
  • Analyze market trends and customer needs to inform product development and marketing campaigns
Sales Planning, Marketing Planning and Strategic Planning
  • Support the Sales Manager in the development of a sales plan
  • Ensure financial and structural changes are implemented within 1 month of the decision being made
  • Establish monthly, quarterly and annual business strategies alongside the senior management team and implement with Sales & Marketing team
  • Develop and execute overall brand strategy to increase brand awareness and market share
  • Design and implement lead generation campaigns through digital advertising, social media, PR, influencers, ambassadors and other marketing initiatives
  • Support Sales & Marketing teams in preparing event plans that are approved 2 months in advance of the event
Forecasting and Results Analysis
  • Build out detailed sales forecasts through 4iiiis ERP system to support material procurement and finance
  • Review and analyze sales results of the brands products to determine future product developments and business opportunities for the brand; identify and forecast market shifts and threats
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
5+ years of leadership and management experience, preferably in the sports industry
8+ years of sales and marketing experience, preferably in the sports/cycling industry
Post-secondary education in business, sales, marketing or communications
Experience managing omni-channel businesses
Knowledge of retail, wholesale and dealer sales principles, methods and practices
Experience in account management and building long-term relationships with clients
Proven track record in business development and achieving sales targets
Proficiency in using a CRM software for sales tracking and analysis
Strong understanding of brand building and brand management
Ability to analyze market trends and customer data to inform strategic decision-making
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid conflict resolution and people management skills
Positive team attitude, focus on cross-functional team cohesion
Experience negotiating and reviewing contracts and pricing agreements with dealers and distributors
Confident. Humble. Strong work ethic. Positive. Creative. Not afraid to fail
Healthy appreciation for the cycling industry. A strong willingness to learn and embrace the cycling industry if not already immersed in it
Ability to manage, follow through and complete overlapping projects in a face-paced environment
