SUPERVISES: Hotel Sales & Marketing team

DESCRIPTION: Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts seek a senior and strategic leader to drive the integrated Sales & Marketing strategies for Shangri-La Toronto.

Within the confines of the hotel\'s budget and business requirements, this position will be entirely responsible for driving the overall topline revenues and market share performance, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve key financial and customer metrics.

CORE COMPETENCIES:

Develops the annual Sales and Marketing plan. Directs, motivates and leads the Sales and Marketing team through the implementation of effective strategies in line with overall hotel and brand positioning. Works directly with all revenue generating departments to fully optimize rooms and Food & Beverage revenues, while maximizing the balance between Colleague, Guest and Owner satisfaction.

  • Responsible for Hotel Revenues and Market Share
  • Participate and engages as a Key Member of the Hotel Executive Committee
  • Inspires a high level of creativity, personal commitment to service excellence and an emotional sense of gracious hospitality, ensuring delivery of 5 star experiences to guests while optimizing all revenue opportunities
  • Develops and continually adjusts a strategic commercial plan in order to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue goals
  • In conjunction with the Director of Revenue Optimization, develops, implements, monitors and is accountable for sales strategies to maximize occupancy and revenue from all Segments including Retail, Wholesale, Group, Corporate and Luxury.
  • Continually monitors forward economic conditions to anticipate consumer buying patterns to project demand patterns, provide input to forecasting occupancy and average daily rate, and REVPAR, plus complete reports.
  • Analyzes competitor data and industry trends and adjusts strategic plans accordingly.
  • Participates in recruitment of Sales & Marketing Colleagues and effectively trains, recognizes, schedules, provides performance feedback and conducts performance correction if required
  • Motivates Sales Managers to achieve targeted goals through market research, online data, trade shows, journals and sales analysis.
  • Builds rapport and communicates regularly with VP Commerical, VP Operations, VP Sales, VP revenue, VP PR./Comms, HQ team and other external stakeholders.
  • Works with Sales Managers to ensure proper coverage of key accounts, assist with site inspections, client entertainment, trade shows, and familiarization trips, as appropriate
  • Ensures compliance to all hotel policies, procedures and programs.
  • Undertakes other ad hoc related responsibilities, as required.

Other requirements:
  • Previous Luxury Director of Sales and Marketing experience preferred
  • Previous Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts experience preferred or comparable experience with key competitors
  • Owner relation skills
  • Experience partnering with a Global Sales Team
  • Bachelor\'s degree preferred
  • Domestic and International Travel required
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
