Director of Sales & Marketing



The Oak Bay Beach Hotel, ranked #1 Hotel in Canada and #19 in the World by Conde Nast Traveler's Reader's Choice Awards, is an elegant luxury boutique resort on Vancouver Island. With 100 guest rooms, a world-class spa, and exceptional conference and event spaces, we are seeking a strategic, driven, and relationship-focused Director of Sales & Marketing to lead our sales and marketing vision.

The Director is responsible for maximizing revenue and strengthening market share across both leisure and contracted business segments. This includes driving growth from corporate retreats, incentive travel, associations, and group events, while also ensuring the hotel remains a premier choice for luxury leisure travellers. As the face of the hotel in the marketplace, the Director represents the property with professionalism and vision, cultivating strong external relationships while positioning the hotel as a leader in its class. The Director oversees all sales, catering, and marketing strategy and communications, with a focus on optimizing performance across guestrooms and conference/event spaces. Working in close partnership with the General Manager, Operations, and Revenue Management, the Director ensures sustainable growth while reinforcing the hotel's reputation as one of Vancouver Island's leading luxury destinations.

Responsibilities

:

Sales & Business Development



Develop and execute a comprehensive contracted and leisure sales strategy to achieve revenue and market share objectives. Proactively identify, solicit, and secure new business opportunities from corporate retreats, incentive programs, associations, groups, and high-value leisure accounts. Act as the primary ambassador and face of the hotel, representing the property at trade shows, industry events, client presentations, and community partnerships. Build and sustain influential relationships with key accounts, travel management companies, event planners, and luxury travel partners to maximize repeat and long-term contracts. Enhance client satisfaction and loyalty through consistent follow-up, proactive communication, and post-event interactions, ensuring seamless execution and opportunities for repeat business. Drive conference and meeting space utilization through strategic selling and effective yield management. Negotiate agreements to maximize profitability while maintaining service excellence.

Marketing Strategy & Brand Positioning



Create and implement annual marketing and communications plans that promote the hotel broadly, with a focus on leisure travelers, contracted business, and event-driven revenue. Oversee the hotel's digital presence, website content, CRM campaigns, and social media strategy targeted at leisure, corporate, group, and incentive markets. Manage public relations initiatives, partnerships, and community engagement to elevate the hotel's overall profile and positioning as both a luxury leisure destination and a leading venue for conferences and retreats. Ensure all marketing efforts align with luxury brand standards and reinforce the hotel's reputation across its target markets.

Revenue Strategy & Financial Management



Collaborate with the General Manager on strategic planning and business development priorities. Partner with Revenue Management to optimize contracted rates, conference space yield, and inventory allocations. Monitor market trends, competitor performance, and demand forecasts to refine strategies for conference and group revenue. Lead budget preparation, forecasting, and financial reporting for the Sales & Marketing department. Drive performance metrics including ADR, RevPAR Index, and total contracted business revenue.

Leadership & Team Development



Lead, coach, and mentor the sales and catering team to achieve individual and departmental goals. Establish performance metrics, provide regular feedback, and champion professional development opportunities. Foster a high-performance culture of accountability, collaboration, and results. Partner with the General Manager and leadership team to align departmental goals with overall hotel strategy.

Qualifications:



Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Business, or Marketing (or equivalent experience). Minimum 7 years of progressive leadership experience in hotel sales and marketing, with a strong background in contracted business development. Proven success in securing corporate retreats, incentive travel, association, and group conference business. Knowledge of RFP processes, account management, and event/conference space yield management. Excellent negotiation, presentation, and client relationship skills. Proficiency with hotel sales systems (Delphi, Opera Cloud, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite. Full-time, onsite executive role based in Victoria, BC; onsite presence required when not travelling for sales calls, trade shows, or client engagements. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends in alignment with business needs.

Pay: $100,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
