The Director of Operations, reporting to the Executive Director, will be an integral part of OKIB\xe2\x80\x99s Management team, collaborating with Departmental Directors in developing and managing performance and operational goals that align with OKIB\xe2\x80\x99s Strategic Plan. The successful candidate will assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring the day-to day operational systems and processes that aligns with OKIB\xe2\x80\x99s mission and values. WHAT WE OFFER

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree, preferably in Business Administration, with extensive business experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • 10 years of experience in an executive or senior role
  • Experience supervising staff
  • Demonstrated experience with strategic planning and program evaluation
  • Superior knowledge of operational functions and principles
  • Experience working with First Nations communities
SUPPORTS NEEDED
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the Strategic Departmental Priorities for OKIB
  • Participate in organizational strategic planning working in collaboration with other Departmental Directors to achieve goals as set out by the Executive Director and Chief and Council
  • Ensuring that Band Council policy and planning directions are implemented
  • Access and secure funding, as available
  • Advise, inform, and liaise with other Departmental Directors
  • Directly supervising administration staff
  • Report to government departments and agencies, as required, regarding all program-funded areas
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with all stakeholders, including the local community and other levels of government
  • As needed, identify and recommend improvements to operations, processes and initiatives
  • Interpret and apply applicable legislation, regulations, and agreements
  • Perform other duties as required, such as: dispute resolution; crisis management; advocacy; and management systems development and maintenance
  • Assist in developing and managing annual departmental budgets
  • Quarterly, annual, or ad hoc reporting for Executive Director and Chief and Council
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
  • Write Briefing Notes
  • Provides training, advice, and guidance to team members as required
  • Obtains feedback on team member effectiveness from relevant client base
  • Ensures receipt of required information from First Nation participants in various programs and consolidating mandated reports to funding agencies
  • Respond or assist in emergency situations
  • Liaise with other OKIB staff to determine partnership opportunities
  • Creating business plans, writing reports and making formal presentations to funding bodies
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the OKIB policies and procedures
  • Attend council meetings when requested
  • Performs other duties as required
DIRECT REPORTS Communications Specialist, Communications Coordinator, Manager, Policy and Strategic Initiatives, Bylaw Officer, Fire Department Operations Manager, Fundraising Coordinator The successful applicant will be required to provide a Vaccine Passport and a Criminal Record Check that includes the vulnerable sector.
