We are seeking a visionary and accomplished Director of Marketing to lead the next phase of our growth and brand evolution. This role is central to advancing MaKami's reputation, strengthening institutional visibility, and positioning the College as a recognized leader and trusted partner within Alberta's publicly funded, non-profit post-secondary education sector.



As part of the senior leadership team, the Director will design and deliver bold marketing strategies, foster innovation, and build a high-performing team. This leader will oversee all marketing and advertising initiatives, traditional, digital, and community-facing, to expand brand awareness, enhance institutional reputation, and support student recruitment and enrollment growth.



The Director will collaborate closely with the Director of Communications, the Director of External Relations, and the Student Advisory Services Director to ensure campaigns are integrated, evidence-based, and aligned with MaKami's mission, values, and commitment to public service.



Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy that strengthens MaKami's position as a trusted leader in non-profit post-secondary education. Serve as the chief strategist for brand positioning, reputation management, and sector differentiation. Marketing & Advertising Oversee all traditional and digital advertising campaigns, ensuring consistency, impact, and alignment with institutional priorities. Lead integrated marketing initiatives that promote awareness of MaKami's programs and highlight its role as a mission-driven, community-focused institution. Ensure public relations efforts reinforce the College's reputation for quality, integrity, and student success. Digital & Performance Marketing Drive performance across SEO, SEM, social media, website optimization, and content marketing. Build a data-driven culture where metrics inform decisions, campaign optimization, and resource allocation. Collaboration & Integration Partner with Communications and External Relations to align storytelling, media engagement, and stakeholder relations. Work with the Student Advisory Services Director to ensure marketing campaigns generate strong leads, foster student engagement, and support the journey from inquiry to enrollment. Collaborate across Admissions, Academics, and Student Services to ensure strategies are cohesive and student-centered. Team & Leadership Mentor, develop, and expand the marketing team, fostering creativity, accountability, and excellence. Champion a culture of innovation, inclusion, and continuous improvement. Outreach & Partnerships Strengthen relationships with community organizations, industry partners, and sector stakeholders to expand MaKami's reach and credibility. Represent the College's marketing vision confidently at leadership tables, sector forums, and public events.

Specific Accountabilities

Achieve measurable increases in inquiries, applications, and enrollments across programs and campuses. Effectively manage the marketing budget, demonstrating prudent stewardship of public resources and clear ROI. Launch and assess integrated campaigns that build both institutional awareness and enrollment growth. Produce monthly performance reports for senior leadership, with data-driven insights and recommendations. Ensure consistent and compelling representation of MaKami's mission and brand across all platforms and audiences.

Key Success Factors

Demonstrated success leading transformational marketing strategies in education, non-profit, or mission-driven organizations. Expertise in both traditional and digital marketing/advertising, with a proven ability to strengthen brand awareness, reputation, and enrollment outcomes. Deep understanding of publicly funded, non-profit education environments, with sensitivity to stakeholder expectations and community impact. Experience showing significant growth strategies in previous roles. Ability to build bridges across diverse communities and student demographics. A visionary yet pragmatic leader who balances creativity with accountability.

Experience & Education

Bachelor's degree in marketing, Business, or related field; advanced degree an asset. 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in marketing, with at least 5 years at the senior management level. Proven success in advancing brand reputation and enrollment growth in education, public, or mission-driven sectors. Deep expertise in digital platforms, analytics, and integrated campaigns. Track record of leading and developing high-performing teams. Passion for education and advancing the role of non-profit post-secondary institutions.
