The Office of the Chief Communications Officer is looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Director of Marketing, Digital and Creative Services to lead a multi-disciplinary team of talented professionals. This role provides corporate-wide leadership in marketing, digital platforms, creative design, and storytelling, ensuring the corporation's brand, identity, and reputation remain strong, trusted, and Edmontonian-centred. Together, these teams are a key pillar of the branch's centre of excellence model.
As a relationship-based organization, success in this role means leading with both agility and foresight by responding to emerging needs while maintaining a strong, future-focused strategic vision. This includes the ability to translate transformational strategic plans, such as the City Plan and corporate strategic framework, into tangible roadmaps that offer the team clear direction and measurable outcomes.
This particular Director role will be instrumental in shaping the City's communications. Your leadership will drive integration, not only within the Office of the Chief Communications Officer but also across all departments, fostering collaboration and leveraging diverse expertise for a variety of initiatives.
What will you do?
As Director, you will serve as both a strategist and a coach, guiding your team to deliver innovative, accessible, and engaging creative solutions that truly reflect Edmonton's identity and values
Inspire and empower team members through effective mentorship, clear communication, and a commitment to foster a positive and inclusive work environment
Shape and refine a cohesive corporate brand and place brand platform, enabling the City to communicate with a unified voice, enhance clarity, and build trust with Edmontonians, employees, and Council
Advance the City's corporate brand through ongoing consultation
Work to genuinely integrate and reflect diverse voices, including Indigenous voices and experiences, in alignment with the City's Indigenous Framework
Lead and optimize marketing processes to execute efficient, data-driven campaigns, ensuring data accuracy and seamless workflow
Develop and implement journey maps and campaigns across all lifecycle stages, delivering tailored messaging and engagement strategies (such as centralized intake) and strategically adopting new marketing technologies
Develop and enhance the City's digital strategy from a marketing and communications user experience perspective, incorporating technical best practices and industry trends.
Foster strong collaborative relationships with internal teams, external partners to drive mutual understanding and achieve shared goals
Ensure seamless integration of efforts to communicate the City's progress effectively on key initiatives and issues related to the advancement of the City Plan.
Qualifications
:Experience, knowledge, training, and/or education in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business, Design or a related field
Corporate communications or marketing experience in a senior leadership role within a large, complex organization
Combinations of education and experience will be considered
Assets:
Master's Degree in a related field
Accreditation with the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) or the Canadian Public Relations Society

Conditions of Employment and Work Environment:
1 permanent, full-time position
Hours of Work: 36.9 hours per week, Monday - Friday. This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite.
Salary: (Annually) $142,206.08 - $177,758.62
