We are currently looking for a Director of John Island Camp to join our team of committed professionals.This is a full-time position with accommondations provided from May 1- October 1 at John Island Camp. Flexible work options are available for the off-season.

Under the leadership of the Senior Manager of Camping Services & Youth Leadership, the Director of John Island Camp manages all aspects of YMCA John Island Camp. This includes seasonal human resources, supporting and implementing new program design, financial accountability, program delivery, and providing feedback to future financial and facility development/planning.

START DATE: November 12, 2023

LOCATION: Sudbury, ON

RATE OF PAY: $44,000 - $57,000 per year

HOURS: 40 per week

Major Responsibilities

  • Onsite supervision of program and services delivery
  • Provide supervision and report on an annual basis the risk management and safety plans
  • Monitor expenditures as well as create monthly and annual budgets
  • Coordinate with Camping Services Registrar for transportation logistics and parent concerns/inquiries
  • Ensure all regulatory and legislative requirements are met or exceeded.
  • Identify and report to the Senior Manager of Camping Services & Youth Leadership issues and concerns
  • Know the proper function and normal operating parameters of all systems and equipment and how to make adjustments to them
  • Design, build, and implement new program ideas that meet Camp Standards and expectations
  • Assess existing programs and opportunities for growth, implement corrective measures as required
  • Coordinate seasonal staff recruitment and selection
  • Manage timesheets and payroll information
Qualifications

  • College diploma or University degree in Outdoor Recreation, Business, or related field *for education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES with their application
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a senior camp staff position (such as Assistant Director, Outdoor Centre Coordinator, Lead Facilitator)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer skills using Microsoft Office, internet, and email applications
  • Camp specific programs experience
  • Valid G class driver\xe2\x80\x99s license
  • Transportation of dangerous good- Marine module
  • Pleasure craft operator\'s card
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR C
  • Bilingualism in both official languages an asset
  • Current and Satisfactory Police Record with Vulnerable Sector Check
