Since 1973, Bulk Carriers (PEI) Limited has been providing transportation and cold storage services to its wide array of customers within the agricultural, seafood, processing and manufacturing industries across the Maritimes and beyond. Proudly family-owned and operated, Bulk Carriers/KelCold Storage currently has 175 employees, an expanding fleet of over 100 trucks and 150 trailers, equipped with the latest satellite-tracking technology, as well as a 3.36 million cubic foot refrigerated warehouse and a 21,000 square foot refrigerated dock located in Moncton, NB.

Role Description:
As the Director of Human Resources, you will provide strategic direction, leadership and management on all human resource functions including strategic planning, HR reporting and analytics, training and development, recruitment and retention, as well as overall employee engagement. You\'ll lead and mentor a team of dedicated HR professionals to execute on your innovative ideas while providing coaching and training to the management team ensuring they have the right people in the right positions to be successful.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Participate in various strategic planning sessions with members of the senior leadership team, offering expertise and guidance from an HR perspective;
  • Lead the execution of both the short and long-term HR strategy in support of the overall vision and goals of the organization;
  • Facilitate the implementation of various policies and processes to promote and encourage consistency across the entire organization;
  • Review compensation and total rewards structure, ensuring alignment with market standards, and suggesting/implementing changes as needed;
  • Offer support, guidance, and coaching to leaders and managers across the organization;
  • Organize and execute training and development initiatives.
Qualifications:
As the ideal candidate, you are an innovative and strategic human resources professional who can make the connection between the business strategy and the people that drive it. You are passionate about continuous learning and improvement, not just for yourself but for everyone in the organization. You have experience leading a team of HR professionals, and as a strong communicator, you seize opportunities to coach others. Most importantly, you are excited to help the organization craft an employee experience that builds a positive, inclusive work culture and increases employee engagement and growth from all areas of the business.

Your qualifications will include:
  • Post-secondary education, preferably with a concentration in Human Resources, or other related discipline with relevant experience will also be considered;
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in a Human Resources role, with demonstrated expertise in a broad range of HR functions;
  • Previous experience managing a team of HR professionals or multiple direct-reports;
  • Experience leading change management initiatives within a large organization;
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of Prince Edward Island employment laws and practices;
  • Strong decision-making along with the confidence to stand behind those decisions;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to operate with a strong sense of urgency when required, including flexibility to work outside of standard business hours when needed;
  • CPHR designation is considered an asset.
