Our client, a dynamic and fast-paced financial services company, is seeking a Director of Finance to lead their finance function through an exciting phase of growth and modernization. This role is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with a blend of public practice and industry experience-for example, a current Controller looking to step into a broader, more strategic leadership role. You will oversee financial reporting, tax, and regulatory compliance while driving process improvements and system enhancements across the finance organization.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Oversee corporate tax compliance and planning, including income tax, GST/HST, and other regulatory filings.
  • Manage regulatory reporting requirements and coordinate external audits with precision and efficiency.
  • Champion the modernization of financial systems and processes, identifying opportunities to automate workflows and enhance reporting capabilities.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support systems change projects to strengthen efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal controls, financial policies, and governance frameworks.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on financial planning, budgeting, and strategic initiatives.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering accountability, adaptability, and a culture of excellence.
Requirements:
Qualifications
  • CPA designation required.
  • Minimum 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, ideally with a combination of public practice (Big 4 or mid-tier) and industry experience.
  • Experience as a Controller or Senior Finance Leader with readiness to step into a Director-level role within a complex or fast-paced organization.
  • Proven track record overseeing financial reporting, tax, and regulatory compliance in a complex environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with system implementation, upgrades, or finance transformation initiatives.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
