Job Description

Our client, a highly recognized name in the Tier 1 retail industry, is seeking a Director, Finance to oversee consolidated reporting, divisional accounting, and financial governance across a complex, multi-entity environment. This role offers the opportunity to lead a talented finance team, influence key decisions, and drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced, growth-oriented organization.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance
Lead the preparation and delivery of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements, MD&A, and AIF, ensuring full compliance with IFRS and CSA requirements.
Oversee public company filings (SEDAR, SEDI) and manage the preparation of executive-level board and audit presentations.
Research and implement new accounting standards, policies, and disclosures to maintain best-in-class reporting quality.
Divisional & Operational Accounting
Direct all aspects of divisional accounting, including month-end close, audit readiness, and operational reporting.
Manage real estate accounting, intercompany transactions, and corporate accounting processes across multiple business units.
Oversee accounts payable, payroll accounting, commodity tax returns (HST, QST, Sales Tax), and daily cash management.
Partner closely with external auditors to ensure efficient interim and year-end reviews.
Leadership & Strategic Impact
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence.
Champion process improvements and automation initiatives through Oracle ERP and related systems to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
Collaborate cross-functionally with senior leaders to align financial reporting with business objectives.
Contribute to special projects, strategic initiatives, and policy development to strengthen overall financial governance.
Qualifications
CPA designation required.
Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, including leadership of multi-disciplinary teams.
Proven experience in external financial reporting for public companies under IFRS.
Strong knowledge of divisional and corporate accounting within complex, multi-entity organizations.
Demonstrated leadership capability, analytical acumen, and ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
