Job Description

Scintica is a young, rapidly growing, private company based in London, Ontario with operations in the USA, UK, Europe and many other parts of the world. We specialize in sale of high value scientific equipment to research scientists at Universities and Pharmaceutical Companies as they seek to make the next medical breakthrough.

We are seeking a new Director of Finance to take responsibility for the management and accuracy of the company's financial operations, reporting, and compliance, overseeing our existing 3-person finance team to ensure efficient and accurate transaction processing. This position will report to the President with timely and reliable financial information to support strategic decision-making and ensure the company's continued growth, profitability, and financial integrity.

Key Responsibilities:



1. Financial Management & Reporting



Prepare, consolidate, analyze, and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards (ASPE). Maintain the general ledger and ensure timely month-end and year-end close processes. Monitor and manage cash flow, including forecasting and working capital requirements. Prepare budgets and financial forecasts in collaboration with the President and department heads. Provide financial analysis, variance reporting, and recommendations to support operational and strategic decisions.

2. Leadership & Staff Management



Supervise and mentor accounting staff responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general accounting functions. Set clear objectives, conduct performance reviews, and provide ongoing coaching and professional development opportunities. Ensure efficient workflow, task prioritization, and cross-training within the finance department.

3. Compliance & Controls



Maintain and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data. Oversee the preparation and filing of all statutory returns, including sales tax, payroll remittances, and other regulatory filings. Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners. Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and relevant legislation.

4. Process Improvement & Systems



Evaluate, recommend, and implement improvements to accounting processes, systems, and reporting tools. Oversee ERP or accounting software maintenance and optimization to ensure efficiency and accuracy. Develop and document financial policies, procedures, and best practices.

5. Strategic & Operational Support



Support the President in assessing business opportunities, risks, and cost-saving measures. Participate in management meetings, offering insights into operational performance from a financial perspective. Assist with special projects such as financing arrangements, acquisitions, capital investments, and contract reviews.

Qualifications:



Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation. Minimum 5-8 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role. Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards (ASPE) and relevant tax regulations. Proven ability to lead a finance team and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel). Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and integrity.

Working Conditions:



Office-based role, with occasional travel for meetings or audits. May require extended hours during peak periods such as year-end close or budget preparation.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
