72 Who We Are
SFU?s libraries are sites of inspiration and creation, as well as access to information. Library facilities on all three campuses provide access to collections, research assistance, equipment loans, and study space. Members of our 170-person workforce are student-centered, service-oriented, and critical partners in research and knowledge creation. Library employees drive our success. We work together to create a positive environment for library users and a thriving and sustainable work environment for employees. Our work centers five priority approaches outlined in the library?s strategic plan for 2022-2024: Relationships & Community; Reconciliation and Decolonization; Equity; Climate Action; and Evidence-Informed Decision Making.
About the Role
The Director, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) develops and facilitates best practices and services in the area of EDI, in collaboration with all divisions of the SFU library. The role acts as a central resource, providing advice and support, and develops and implements equity and inclusion initiatives for library staff and faculty, as well as recommending changes to increase inclusion in library services to students and scholars. Reporting to the Dean of Libraries, the Director works closely with the supervisor, Associate Deans and library Division Heads to provide leadership for equity initiatives in the library?s three campus locations. The role participates as a member of the university?s EDI community of practice, and coordinates with equity initiatives in other university units as appropriate.
