The Director of Electrical Engineering - Quebec City plays a strategic role: stabilizing, inspiring, and developing a team of about twenty engaged professionals. This team plays a key part in delivering diverse institutional, industrial, and commercial projects, with a focus on communication, innovation, and collaboration.

Reporting directly to Martin Bergeron, P.Eng., General Manager - Quebec City, and working closely with Julie Lefebvre, P.Eng., Vice President, Electrical, the Director will enjoy a high degree of autonomy and actively contribute to shaping the future of the Electrical discipline within BPA.



Main Responsibilities

Technical Leadership and Project Oversight

Oversee the technical execution of projects within the discipline to ensure quality, performance, and compliance with internal processes and client expectations. Plan, assign, coordinate, and supervise teams to ensure smooth project delivery. Ensure that all work complies with BPA's engineering standards, procedures, and tools, while contributing to their continuous improvement. Serve as a technical resource and reviewer for complex projects or critical design decisions. Identify organizational inefficiencies and implement corrective actions to improve internal processes and overall efficiency. Optimize resource allocation and manage priorities to balance workloads across multiple projects and deadlines. Participate in project kick-offs, technical reviews, and close-out meetings to ensure knowledge sharing and quality control. Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to resolve technical challenges and implement effective solutions.

Team Leadership

Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineers and technicians, ensuring high levels of engagement and performance. Identify hiring needs (interns, graduates, professionals), and take part in recruitment and onboarding processes in collaboration with HR. Assess development needs and foster ongoing training and professional growth within the team. Facilitate regular feedback sessions and performance evaluations in line with HR practices. Promote an inclusive and collaborative work environment aligned with BPA's values and culture. Maintain a safe, respectful, and healthy work environment in compliance with occupational health and safety standards and company policies.

Business Development

Support service proposals and tenders by providing technical expertise, resource allocation plans, and risk assessments. Contribute to identifying new service offerings or technical innovations tailored to market and client needs. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and industry partners to support growth and client retention.

Profile Sought

Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or another relevant discipline). Professional designation: Member of the Ordre des ingenieurs du Quebec (OIQ). Experience: Approximately 12 years of experience in building electrical design and project delivery, with at least 5 years in team and project management. Languages: Proficiency in French and good command of English, both spoken and written. Leadership skills: Ability to mobilize, develop, and elevate a team toward high performance. Inspires others, gives direction, and fosters collaboration and innovation. Other desired skills: Strong emotional intelligence, client orientation, financial acumen, political and strategic sense, sound judgment, rigor, and the ability to influence and drive change.
