Primary Functions of the Position
The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Vancouver is seeking an experienced, dynamic, professional, to lead and direct the development initiatives of the Archdiocese of Vancouver. Reporting to the Delegate, the Director is responsible for leading the implementation of a comprehensive development program (major and planned giving, annual giving, the Archbishop's Dinner, donor services and other fundraising initiatives) to secure the financial resources required to support the ministries and programs for the 395,000 Catholics of the Archdiocese. He/She must be committed to the Church's mission and to the principles of Gospel stewardship.Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a multi-year business plan with mission, goals, objectives, and annual KPIs.
  • Oversee major donor strategy, aligning interests with Archdiocesan priorities.
  • Direct the annual Project Advance campaign with the steering committee.
  • Oversee Planned Giving (planned gifts, estate gifts, securities, and life insurance donations).
  • Cultivate and maintain a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects.
  • Oversee events, including the Annual Archbishop's Dinner.
  • Ensure database integrity (SalesForce) and recommend system improvements.
  • Develop and manage a donor research and prospect system.
  • Plan and implement outreach strategies to solicit new donors.
  • Collaborate with internal and external professionals on a comprehensive communication and marketing plan for fundraising.
  • Oversee donor acknowledgments, pledge reminders, and accountability reports.
  • Recommend and maintain policies, procedures and processes for development office.
  • Provide strategic fundraising guidance to parishes and schools, including campaign planning and recruiting fundraising personnel.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in philanthropy, non-profit management, or a related field, including significant experience in donor development and relationship management;
  • A Bachelor's degree in a related business discipline;
  • Certification in fundraising or fundraising management is an asset;
  • The ability to build positive and enduring relationships with donors, pastors, parish and Archdiocesan leaders;
  • A high level of initiative, judgement and discretion;
  • Strong leadership and management skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills;
  • Competence with Microsoft Office suite and database management is required.
Conditions of Employment
  • Thorough knowledge of the Catholic Church in the Archdiocese of Vancouver;
  • Understanding of and commitment to the mission of the Church;
  • Satisfactory background check and training in compliance with the Safe Environment Policy and Procedures and related diocesan requirements;
  • Compliance with all relevant Archdiocesan policies.
Working Environment
  • This is a permanent full-time position and occasional evenings/weekend work will be required;

  • Salary Range: $95,000-140,000.
