About the Job
We are looking for an experienced communications professional to lead a diverse and exciting portfolio for one of western Canada’s fastest-growing technology companies. This 14-month contract includes a fascinating and challenging array of responsibilities balanced with the perks and flexibilities you’d expect from one of the Best Workplaces™ in Canada.
The Interim Director of Corporate Marketing and Communications at Vendasta will be responsible for communications programs, which include public relations, reputation management, and corporate social responsibility. Intimate knowledge of industry trends across reseller segments such as channel distribution and marketing is an asset. The successful candidate will benefit from on-the-job training, including consultation ahead of the Director of Corporate Marketing and Communication's 12-month leave. The impact you’ll have
Strategy, Planning, and Support

  • Work closely with the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and Director of Brand Experience to develop strategic marketing plans and corporate strategies that represent our customers and brand, in collaboration with the marketing leadership team.
  • Identify the effectiveness and impact of communications initiatives with tracking and analysis, and optimize accordingly—complete with formal proposals and recommendations on tactics; accountable for monitoring and reporting for all communications activities.
  • Supports third-party research initiatives.
  • Help the Vendasta executive team grow their thought leadership by creating, promoting, and booking speaking engagements.
  • Craft articles on behalf of Vendasta and its leadership in benefit of brand.
  • Work with Marketing Operations Manager to manage external and corporate events in collaboration with the greater marketing team.

Corporate Social Responsibility
  • Chair a cross-divisional Community Support Committee and manages the annual community support budget.
  • Develop plans for key Vendasta-owned community support projects in collaboration with committee.

Public Relations
  • Initiate stakeholder engagement, collaborating and communicating on behalf of Vendasta, ensuring messages and information are relayed back to Vendasta senior leadership.
  • Execute strategic and time-sensitive media campaigns.
  • Responds to all general community/marketing communication requests in a timely manner.
  • Foster new and existing relationships with member organizations, media, analysts, etc., in benefit of business goals.

Reputation Management
  • Respond to all public reviews and provide feedback to product and customer-facing teams.
  • Assist with issues management and provide consultation to other Vendasta leaders in benefit of Vendasta’s brand.

The value you’ll bring
  • Preferred five combined years experience in communications and/or journalism
  • Ability to develop, execute, and evaluate successful strategic communications initiatives
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to articulate technology and market positioning to internal, external, customer, and prospective business audiences
  • Highly collaborative professional who enjoys a fast-paced, energetic, and high growth environment
  • Investor relations experience considered an asset
  • Experience in SaaS or technology an asset
